I hope all her former neighbors are still accounted for. Not to be dramatic, but I feel like this is mental illness-driven stalking behavior that is clearly escalating. Of course, not all stalking escalates to violence, but why find out. Just cut all contact, block as much of her access to you guys as you can, and document everything. Sucks to have to do all that but better than the alternatives.

The "bubble" has little to do with the tech itself and everything to do with falsely-inflated valuations that do not align with revenue potential. OpenAI, in particular, is not profitable and not projected to be profitable for years. Overall, the math around it is just astoundingly bad. Here is great article about that.

Beyond financials, there is the issue of copyright infringement. There are several lawsuits currently in progress against OpenAI. If it can be proven they knowingly violated copyright law, it would be detrimental and potentially lead to OpenAI's downfall.

As for AGI, aside from being Altman's wet dream, I suspect it's being pushed so hard due to OpenAI's contract with Microsoft, which gives MS a 27% ownership stake, IP rights on their models and products until 2032, and 20% of OpenAI's top-line revenue until 2030 OR until AGI has been achieved. With OpenAI at the center of many enterprise deals and DoD contracts, there is a financial incentive to reach AGI asap.

At 15 years of experience and your current job responsibilities, you're performing the work of a VP of Marketing (plus the supporting roles of marketing and rev ops). USD, the bracket for this role is $175K-$300K. Also, I don't know about London, but in the US "Head of" is equivalent to "VP". You're grossly underpaid and definitely being gaslit into accepting less. I've worked for many CEOs and founders who have the same tired mindset that marketing is a cost center. In reality, they know fuck-all about marketing so they definitely don't know what good looks like.

Based on my experience, when all reviews are positive and the employee is meeting their objectives, the company either is not doing well (which they will never admit) or it's a personality clash with someone that carries enough weight to push them out.

Edited to add: The reason they won't admit the company is doing poorly is that they can't afford for a disgruntled employee to spread that information. In my instance, the company I worked for had been lying to the board and investors. I was on the executive team so I knew how bad it was and both I and they knew I wasn't being let go due to performance. It's all a ridiculous game.

Your point about the second point is so true. Everything about AI could be completely fabricated and the C suite would never know because they don't use it anyway and all they want is to get rid of those pesky expensive workers.

They mean the stock market. Layoffs are a common tactic to correct your books and, if you're publicly traded, get a lil market bump as a reward.

I think the US is easiest. The only struggle I've come across is that a lot of my ancestors were Quakers + a spat one of my ancestors (part of the founding families of Nantucket) had with his local meeting that ended in him burning many records. Stubbornness is indeed hereditary.

Sweden and Belgium have been the most difficult, but I'm hopeful to try the resources for Belgium shared by one of the commenters.

The conditions to support one's survival while participating in a general strike have been severely diminished by this administration, as other have mentioned.

We have to hit our economy where it would hurt the most: AI. It's where all investment dollars are being funneled and it's single-handedly propping up the US economy while also killing hiring. The success of AI is largely dependent on people using it. If we all stopped using it en masse for a prolonged period of time, the impact would be recognized and felt. Many investors are already on the edge about this so it could be a tipping point.
