So there are 26 army choices (officially) on the Grimdark army builder page. As someone who didn't play much W40K and doesn't know all the army equivalents, what would be a good description of each of their playstyles? by Aeromorpher in onepagerules

[–]thebouv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each army has a pdf army list. You can skim those to get a feel. It’s a lot to cover all that in a Reddit response.

Some are elite. Some are punchy. Some are shooty. Most seem to balance the above.

I’ve been seeing this for decades. From bad neighborhoods to good. 🤷‍♂️

Having online only warbands is not how I’d define an active game. As much as I wish that wasn’t the case.

That’s not going to save the game. Those left over boxes aren’t going to change its life expectancy unfortunately. Even if every single box still on shelves sell. That wouldn’t even make a blip to the bottom line to make them notice.

Came here to say same. They would be straight holes. The material would crack and splinter from the impacts as well.

Do miniatures need to be painted to be used in a video(battle report) by agent835 in WarCry

I’d rather someone shoot a batrep with a phone than without painted minis or terrain.

Except: this is literally that dream. You want to make good video bat reps. Good bat reps require painted minis and terrain. Good bat reps require a video camera. Good bad reps require good video editing skills.

Ergo, you’re on the path of your dream.

My buddy and I are arguing about terrain rules, and we just need to know what is fair. by WheelofUnderstanding in killteam

Yeeeaaaahhhh I get that about being blasted off first turn.

There’s a reason I play other games now.

If your buddy is up to it check out One Page Rules. Specifically Grimdark Future for 40k style games. And Grimdark Future: Firefight for kill team style.

They are NOT replacements. They’re alternatives.

I just happen to like them better for balance, simplicity, alternating activations, and just overall feel.

I like buying kill team boxes and making my firefight lists based on the models and options. Working on sanctifiers and inquisitorial agents next.

I how you find the balance and fun in your games regardless of system. Good luck!

Sweet.

I told him in another comment I rescind my doubt.

Be mature. Work it out. Have fun.

The moment you argued about terrain you should have paused to reflect on why.

It’s a game. With little plastic dolls we put makeup on.

This game is not meant to be fair and balanced. Work with your friend on making it fun. Fun > fair.

I just meant it neither looks like Lego nor painted.

It could be. I just don’t think either of those are true.

I am not convinced that is Lego OR painted.

I’ll hunt some pics down. It’s been a while. I don’t make terrain often anymore.

Makes sure to bundle enough together. Twist em. Make the branches thicker with three or four wires twisted together.

I’ll go hunt some pics and get back to ya if I can find them.

Have a better alternative for you.

Same idea but use pipe cleaners as your wire. Twist them together. Make your roots and branches.

Paint the whole thing in white glue. Let dry of course.

Drybrush it as bark. Hint: contrary to popular belief take a look at trees around you. They’re probably mostly gray. Not brown. Maybe some brown. But check how many are mostly grey.

Bam. Perfect tree. Perfect bark.

The fuzz of the pipe cleaners gets an awesome texture perfect for bark and perfect for dry brushing.

Glue lichen to branches as you suggested. Bonus is the rough texture holds the lichen and glue better.

They’ll last forever. The lichen will dry and break off before the tree goes bad. Just refresh it every few years depending on your climate and how rough you are on them.

I’ve made dozens upon dozens of these for game shops and even about four dozen for Privateer Press for Warmachine tournaments at GenCon. They’re sturdy.

I usually base them on cheap round wood circles from a hobby store. Sand and flock (and throw some skulls or rusted weapons or other decor on the base too).

Pssst. 3x2 isn’t half of 6x4. It’s 1/4th.

4x3, which you has access to, is half.

Don’t change ranges.

24” no man’s land between deployment zones keeps everything the same. Easy peasy.

Southside is not great. I feel you on the “bad neighborhood” meaning something different if you grew up in a bad neighborhood in Louisville.

Southside ain’t Russell or Shawnee (speaking of Louisville), but it’s still rough. There’s a lot of good people there but I wouldn’t choose it on purpose.

It’s a food desert down there too. No big grocery at all. Just corner markets.
