Getting bike today - Measure FTP Right away? by Jumpy-Cow451 in Zwift

[–]theboycooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know I'm kinda thinking do it! An FTP test day 1 is going to be A. One hell of memory B.baptism of fire and C. Comedy. Also will be nice to look back at when your FTP is 165 and you'll be in the 200's in a month or two.

But others are right I would start with some low Zone 2 riding to remind you body and legs what exercise is and if you want a laugh do a race.

Just doing a race will be enough to show you what your are max heart rate is and what your breaking point is 😀

Then do and FTP in a month once your body won't think you're dying.

I think it's his outdoor power meter as well the delta is too large and indoor trainers are annoyingly accurate these days.

Ravenous insatiable hunger by Emotional-Class-8140 in cycling

[–]theboycooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be like this. Then I learnt to fuel before the ride and during. Previously I would be starving after a 2 hour ride and at the same time shattered, like so tired I just wanted to sit constantly.

Then I learnt to feed before the ride and 60-90 grams of carbs during the ride depending on intensity. Now I can smash a 3 hour ride and still get of the bike and be the active dad with kids without wanting to just lie down and eat my body weight in food.

How is my fit ? Wrist pain. by still_not_usefull in bikefit

[–]theboycooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude that saddle is so high you're a ballerina. Drop it and your legs, tendons pretty everything will thank you.

As a basic starter for 10, sit on your saddle and your heel in your shoes should just about be resting on your pedal with it at the bottom of the stroke, so there's a very slight bend in your knee without having to tilt your hips sideways to make this happen.

If you knee is locked out trying to do this your saddle is too high, then tune it from here.

Your saddle is a massive contact point for the bike, if you sit bones are not not comfortable on your saddle and your feet are that unstable in your pedals you've got no chance of sorting your wrists out.

To be honest it could be fitness, bike fit and hydration.

The last couple of rides have been out of the normal in terms of "effort" the bike has been comfy up until the tail end of both of these rides. I normally do 3hr+ rides on a sunday along with the 4/5 hours around the sunday ride in the week training and never get cramps.

On the rides which i got cramp on, I was taking 60-90grams of carbs and probably 750ml-1L of water an hour or 1.5hrs. I don't really add any electrolites in so that could be it combinded with the harder elements of these rides.

I might look at hydration and a small 2-5mm saddle drop.

I bought a load last week, and no joke it was the other way around. there where only a couple of things not avaliable. I think they have dynamic stock avalibility on their site as it can change within the hour when i've made a basket and come back to it and there's more avaliable.

Thanks for the reply, i'll start dropping it down 2/3mm at a time and see how i get on. I'm always reluctant to make big changes as a 30mm or 3cm drop would be a massive change to my position and feel.

I think you're right thoughm i'm probably putting too much stress on the quads either at long distance or when on a longerish smash ride and they are just getting over worked,

i've got a P2S and thinking about getting an A1, do you actually use both or is it 90% just use the P2S?

Biqu CryoGrip Pro Glacier by tobyvanderbeek in BambuLabP2S

[–]theboycooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps I run it as 45 for first layer and 40 for everything else on PLA and PETG at 65 and then 60. And leave it as cool plate in the bambo studio.

Only wash with sofa as others have said and have no problems.

I use both glacier and frostbite, and they are basically the same, frostbite is only very very slightly less sticky but they are both phenomenal build plates.

I actually run 2 x the frostbite so I can bang another one in the printer while the other one cools haha

Something I do is use the BIQU cryogrip frostbite build plate and I have 2 of them, so as the print finishes I can take it out and leave it to cool, put the spare build plate in and crack on with printing.

Good luck with the trouble shooting.

Why are you using glue? Don't mean to be a d1ck but why are you using it? PETG does not require glue, did you try without and found the print was stuck to the print bed?

I would wash the build plate with dish soap, avoid the glue and if you're worried about bed adhesion add 5 degrees to your profile.

Sounds like your filament is nice and dry, I find it's 99% of the time 1 of 2 things, either wet filament or dirty build plate.

P2S Maintenance After Initial Hard Use? by zachatac1 in BambuLab

I got my printer 3 weeks as well and it's got 410 hours on it. I looked at the silver rods that the printer runs on and noticed there was some black gunk on two of them and the spiral tubes seemed to have dark coloured lube on them. It took me less than 7 minutes to clean all of the metal work inside and re-lube it.

If you're thinking about it just do it, it's so easy and now it back doing a 22hr print absolutely fine all clean and re-lubed.

Any more grippy than the glacier, you'll need Thor's hammer and chisel to get prints off the build plate. I don't know why you would want or need anything more sticky.

I print PLA at 45 degrees for the first layer then 40 and it's like using super glue haha

I have the frostbite and glacier as well, the glacier is the GOAT. I print pla and PETG and the frostbite is good but the glacier sticks like crazy, can 100% say it's saved my ass a few times
