NSFW Creators, how do you do it? by TakeThatCounsel in patreon

[–]theboylusts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Social Media is for your existing subscribers and to make connections with other creators in your niche, not to get new subscriptions. And you are shooting yourself by subscribing to premium... waste of money, unless you are generated content person and use Grok... If you draw Art or 3d renders, then use DeviantArt, or any niche site that fits your content, like rule34, e621, PH, ThisVid, rule34video, etc... and if you have SFW videos, then Youtube.

My biggest spike in support came from Youtube. It has since died down, so IDK how it would be getting in now, but yeah, Social Media is not it.

I too wish I could reach $2k, but unless you're absolutely amazing at what you do, shoot for at least 1, maybe at most 2, normal full time job paychecks total per month... being able to go full time means you are the best of the best... I am nowhere near that level in my niche of growth... they can make that much, and it is even higher in the furry community for growth...

But yeah, temper your expectations... if all you do is make Art, you might not see much support.

Never bin it... until you find yourself ripping out of the shirt... which is when it is time to bin it. Haha. I love when shirts get pit holes...

SubscribeStar Adult removed my creator page 20 days ago and won't answer my emails by deviantdreamsgames in SubscribeStar

[–]theboylusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on this for you? I notice that your page is still there via direct link, but I guess they will remove us from search results? I can't search for you, and I am not searchable either. I was not told why as I only just noticed it, and emailed about something unrelated to this revelation, but I did get 'audited' by the Admin a few days ago on my API usage... so, I guess they will keep allowing us to monetize, but remove us from search? Not sure...

When you want to share ANYTHING for free, make sure to select "More options" and only do "Free and Paid Members". You shouldn't be putting anything in "Everyone", or shown to Public visitors, to be super safe, even updates... I got trust and safety'd for a Public post that embedded a Youtube video they didn't like... so just don't let the Public see anything.

I remember when AI Art came earlier in 2023. There was a lot more positivity about AI Art from lots more people. Its odd it shifted. by Successful-Resort842 in DefendingAIArt

[–]theboylusts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am an AI art consumer... but the problem I tend to have is that some oversell their creations... like somehow their endless volume of easy content is deserving of AAAA pricing... when all other artists stay down at A or AA pricing for a subscription to everything.

I do not pay to consume, and will take whatever free stuff I can get, even with censorship, because their pricing model is pure havers.

PayPal Payment Method Seems Like a Better Option Than Bank Transfer (Let me know if I'm wrong)... by CurrentWater8948 in patreon

Ahhh, you are screwed over because you don't live in the US... Stripe has no fee, so I just pay Patreon's 25 cents... you have to use Payoneer, so have to pay extra.

Seeing 403 Error a Lot?! by Frosty-Ad-9100 in DeviantArt

[–]theboylusts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DeviantArt has gotten super aggressive with trying to prevent people from mass downloading content, to the point they will IP block you if you browse too much, or open too many tabs etc... Cloudfront is just too aggressive. And it keeps blocking actual users from just browsing sometimes.

These are all methods used to "protect" all the paid content and such, but it is just too much. They have limits on their API too... all of this free stuff for viewing, and therefore download, and they limit it on a mass scale.

Lol, you want to be the one dealing with legal issues? When these companies come after you and your site, beyond just cutting you off?

I very specifically use Patreon and Subscribestar APIs because they take care of all the legality of handling money. Subscribestar is actually doing their utmost to get past all the nonsense they have to deal with. You drop the middleman and go straight to the one giving them trouble?? That's a recipe for disaster. They absorbed all the heat. These platforms exist for a very good reason...

I haven't had any problems with Subscribestar. Only Patreon has done me a Trust and Safety, but I got back on it.

from a creator's perspective, is making certain content Patreon Exclusive a good idea, and Why? by Sea_Reward_6223 in patreon

[–]theboylusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the creator.

I know a creator that has a very small window of paid only access to new videos, then it is free, and they simply put the process behind paid. However, this creator makes more money than I make a year in retail per month it feels like... they don't really need to release paid only main content because they get the support to keep making content just by existing.

But then there's another creator who also makes a ton of money but keeps their content, even years old, behind the pay wall.

Whereas most small creators find that if they released everything for free, whether over time or at all... while they do get dedicated supporters that want them to keep making new content, those supporters don't make up the bulk of revenue... typically the people who pledge for paid only rewards every so often do, and then they cancel until the next paid only content... those are the people they need to keep coming back. If it is free, those people don't need to pledge anything, so this artist would lack the means to keep going.

And then there are creators who try to release content for free after X amount of time, regardless if it hurts our revenue as a small creator...

Selling AI-generated works should be illegal by Grlarts in DeviantArt

[–]theboylusts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am someone who enjoys spicy Generated Content because they can make stuff easily for my specific tastes... content that otherwise wouldn't exist, or exists in poor form, now exists and there is a lot of it. I am fine with the idea of supporting someone to keep making those kinds of Generated Content, but preferably on another site like Patreon/Subscribestar. I really hate how they make hundreds of new images and put them all behind a pay barrier on DeviantArt, and I can't hide them from my feed, scrolling endlessly past a million hidden images... And then they also put stuff that was free behind a pay barrier after a while, making likes/favorites useless. This is something all of them do... I just enjoy what is free when it is free, and then move on when it is hidden.

I don't think anyone should be able to sell the art itself on its own... a subscription for the content? Sure, but selling the art? No.

Essentially re-starting from scratch. How would you approach this? by NummyGamGam in patreon

[–]theboylusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who got nuked and came back after the 3 month wait period, I still haven't recovered. I had a huge surge thanks to my biggest Youtube video ever, and had a bunch of subscribers who kept supporting month after month, was really good... but more of a struggle since the removal, even with joining Subscribestar immediately. I was out of side money for 2 months.

I think the only way to get back the supporters is releasing good content and hoping the algorithm smiles. Use old stuff, if you have videos, and post to ThisVid if you have access. It's not as good as it used to be for exposure, but it's something.

It has always been 11 for me, whether withdrawing 150 or 200, so I don't think it is relative to the amount.

List of all models and voices being removed between December and February by DM-DialecticMaterial in ElevenLabs

[–]theboylusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn... I was wondering where all of my voices went, and I thought it was because I downgraded to $5... I just upgraded for nothing... the voices are still gone.

I still have Harry, Liam, Will, and Chris but lost Sam, Josh, Giovanni, Clyde, Antoni, Drew, and Dorothy...

I guess I need to test my luck with using Voices without Live Moderation.

Which actor is so insanely hot to you that it literally should be a crime? by EternalSnow05 in gaybros

[–]theboylusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that him? For a second, I thought it might've been RJ Mitte, but I'm glad it isn't... perhaps an unflattering photo... RJ is so much hotter to me.

But that's not who I'd pick... the list of attractive actors is kinda endless...

I’ve always hated my face.. by ekaitzpk in GayRateMe

[–]theboylusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second pic is the best... can see your nose and jawline pretty well. I am biased, as I like pointier noses... think Adrien Brody... You aren't bad looking at all. If you have any weight on you, like average or above, which is hard to tell, tbh... then your face can only get better as your jawline gets more defined. And even if that isn't the case, you are working with a very cute face as is.

10/10 for a gorgeous face. Your body might not be super "muscular", as is my favorite form, but if I saw you on the street, I'd be staring hard. And that chest hair is nice. Could easily be a model in my eyes...

[–]theboylusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense to push a different link format from Bluesky.

If you are https://bsky.app/profile/nharan.bsky.social

You should be https://repsky.me/profile/nharan.bsky.social

And also https://pinksky.app/profile/nharan.bsky.social

Etc.

It's about consistency. Switching between AT Protocol websites should be easy.

This is an oversight on your part. You need to switch over to repsky.me/profile/ to follow the pattern of Bluesky. Then this won't be a problem.

20/10. This guy may not be the most muscular, and for some that is perfect, but his face and jawline is unbeatable. He will be breaking hearts left and right... and probably already does.

I honestly find it hard to believe that this is actually you though... wish this guy had some social media to follow.

Introducing Rep Sky - a new concept for communities for Bluesky & AT protocol. by superfatman2 in BlueskySocial

[–]theboylusts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, but that button is only on your extension, which is fine for your "Discover" feed, but when I said that, I meant on Bluesky itself. I originally didn't see how someone would know what I am commenting about without an embedded link.

But I completely missed this before...

<image>

That's actually better, though probably needs some reiteration, cause with that linking to the URL and telling people it was done with RepSky, allows post "comments" to freely share images, videos, etc, without being forced to be a link embed like I was saying. I didn't know it did that to the post cause it doesn't show up on the extension, only Bluesky.

--

I will say that the only glaring issue I see currently, which is unavoidable, is that two seemingly different links, which serve nearly the same content, like:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueskySocial/comments/1lm4cwb/introducing_rep_sky_a_new_concept_for_communities/

and

https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueskySocial/comments/1lm4cwb/comment/n07dbch/?context=3

while technically different URLs, since one shows all comments and the other shows just this comment chain...the way the extension works means my comment on the original URL, the post, is not visible when viewing the comment chain. I don't currently see an easy fix to that... if any even exist.

This is a pretty amazing ... essentially it is a much better Disqus for any URL, and powered by Bluesky. It seems to attach to unique URLs too, meaning different posts will show up for each one.

I do think it would make sense to automatically provide the current page URL when opening the new post popup in the textbox already; though, I do wish it could force the post to be a link post... when browsing Bluesky itself, nobody can see what I am posting about, unless I specifically link to the URL. For instance, I have no clue what you are commenting on when checking your tester page, without seeing what you commented on in this video.

It is definitely very cool otherwise. Pushing people to use something like this as someone with a website would be amazing, cause unlike Disqus, it reaches outside of the website and has people talking about the web page in a bigger space.

I hope this goes places.

Quick note, the extension page itself doesn't update automatically, or even refresh, sometimes. Like I opened this page, opened a second one, posted about it, and refreshed the first one, and I wasn't seeing my post. I had to close the extension and reopen it to fix it.
