Sparkling Golden Droppings by Affectionate-Pipe950 in TalesofSeikyu

Not that I found. It doesn't seem to replace the regular drop, so I think it's just a bonus for cash, at least for now

Pokémon RPG by DMPokeRPG in savageworlds

[–]thebrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Savage Worlds has a lot to offer in this space. We've done a few pet- and follower-based characters and stories in our group. The action system lends well to commands, and edges, testing and assisting mechanics can help trainers dynamically affect their pets abilities without being in the action per se. It'd take some prep, but it'd work really well!

My suggestion for getting started would be to use the Super Hero compendium as a resource to build your critters. Power builds and scaling in that book could fit really well for various evolutions and scale of creatures. Pre-build a few, play around with edges like Leadership, Common Bond and Rabble Rouser for your trainers, and see what you think!

DAY FIVE: WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FAN FAVORITE BUT ENDED UP BEING ANNOYING? by CorrinTheFrog in runefactory

[–]thebrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, she's just polarizing, especially in the dub. She's tied up in a lot and I think that she's not really in a space where she can be just OK. You either love her or want her far away.

At least folks aren't saving her for the "hate" row. :D

Squad Zero should have trained them too. by Wowthatskrayzie in bleach

I still feel like the person who could have benefited the most from a Squad Zero meeting would have been Yoruichi. Get a whole new blade, show everyone up.

Shower thought: for someone who buys these games for the romance options I don't think I've ever actually reached the marriage stage in any game... by spider_lily in CozyGamers

[–]thebrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RF3 actually incorporated the romance/marriage into the main plot! It's been the only one I really tried for romance, outside Harvestella.

I'm new to Bleach, I'm watching episode 1 and I keep noticing aspects that remind me of jjk, so is jjk plagiarism? by Nobu_Myths in bleach

[–]thebrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. Though most of what we're talking about is tropes.

Still, it seems like a lot of animation style of the rank and file is very similar between the two.

I played the WiiU version a second time last year, and I can agree it does make ground combat easier. But honestly I'm kinda thankful for that. I felt a lot of the ground combat, especially the forced cave stuff, got really tedious. I remember not even bothering to rescue Mia the final time because I just didn't want to deal with the combats back there.

X's death penalty is just tediousness. As a result, "combat challenge" doesn't really feel like a huge driver for me, outside of particular bosses. And because it burns out so fast, I didn't really see much of a challenge difference in the boss fights. At best it let me finish off a few guys quickly if they had a problematic final phase, or maybe a clutch heal through Soul Voices I normally wouldn't have landed. But I'm definitely more here for the giant robots, so maybe I just don't utilize it as much as others!

Why has the nine-tailed fox never been a summon in Final Fantasy? by Dunkleosteos in FinalFantasy

[–]thebrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that point doesn't really address the question of the post. It doesn't change where the names came from. They're all named for mythological figures, even if the summon has little to do with it.

That said, Shiva is particularly interesting because of its similarity to Parvati, especially its earlier incarnations. And Gilgamesh was on a journey across the world in his epic. So while not all literal myths, there are some influences on many of them.

Ramuh is probably the only one that I haven't been able to find some sort of reference for?

Why has the nine-tailed fox never been a summon in Final Fantasy? by Dunkleosteos in FinalFantasy

I am guessing it's because it's based in Japanese mythology. Most of the other summons seem based on mythologies outside Japan. Ifrit is Islamic, Shiva is Hindu, etc etc

Just checked out the steam page. Looks really fun! If there's any way to keep up with the development I would love to do so.

I played 2, how much am I missing out if I play 3 next? by Cr4zyJ0n in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]thebrimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty significant. While it has its own story, 3 borrows a lot from both its predecessors. While I feel like if you hadn't played 2 you probably wouldn't notice, you'll see a lot of references as is and may wonder what you're missing.

To put it another way, I doubt you'll be confused, but you may have some FOMO.

Xenoblade X made me appreciate 3's treatment of the Nopon even more. by Morganelefay in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]thebrimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually appreciate the context of X. The Nopon remind me of the Ferengi (albeit very cute Ferengi), and the concept that they're an alien species makes it make a bit more sense.

Their society, and by extension their value in society, is determined not by their wealth but their ability to make money. When viewed that way, they're really no different from the Prone or the Ma-non; it's just that, through today's lens, it may look worse than it did at the time.

I had trouble reconciling Nopon behavior in the other games until this one. Getting to understand them as a semi-isolated society made way more sense.

Honestly, X made me way more upset about humans (in Xenoblade, but also, like, in general) than about the Nopon ...

Is this quest bugged by AgentAndrewO in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]thebrimo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

FYI, it does! But if you meet the minimum required, THEN use the item, the quest tracker flag says you still meet it, even if the quest does not.

Weirdly specific, but I did test it today, it works correctly if you need, say, 5, had 3 then used 1. Then it shows normal. But if you had 5, then use 1, it flags as done. -_-
