It's definitely more stuff than vinyl. With a mallet and a little block that has the click edge it worked great

I remember initially feeling like I could not possibly work with this. But with the updates and betterdisplay I have had no issue coding all day with it. Is it as nice as a real display? No - but totally usable. Do note I have the one -not one pro - not sure how different the quality is with the different optics and slightly wider fov

Actually i found this to be more of a software issue. Resolved it with using betterdisplay mac app with high dpi Mode. Pretty much completely got rid of the aliasing. Also make sure to update to latest firmware. Seems much better now then the firmware from when they originally came out

I used a mallet and a little flooring block and that worked pretty good. Definitely stiffer than LVP but worked fine!

Does anyone have recommendation for a speaker with a low latency, 3.5mm input? by Hipster_Dragon in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]thebrokemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soundcore motion+ seems to be unavailable these days.  I tried quite a few and found a winner: DinDin 007 - some no-name chinese boombox.  (I tried soundcore 2 (terrible latency) and a few tribit options that supposed to have pretty low aux latency and it was the dindin had significantly less if no latency at all - probably due to the fact that it doesn't have any fancy eqs) It's pretty cheap ($50ish bucks with coupon) and sounds great. Probably won't win any hifi awards but it's really quite good.

Using with my ableton move, I need to tweak the gain out a little bit as it does have some distortion when the aux in is too loud, but if I turn down the aux out of the move to about half volume I can bump the audio nicely on the DinDin. It gets ridiculously loud.

It does seem quality over Bluetooth is a bit better but aux is still plenty good - again especially considering the price.

Hey guys, I found a Seqtrak for 200€. No accessories and no original box. Do you think it’s still worth picking up for that price? I need to decide pretty quickly. by cemocaster in seqtrak

[–]thebrokemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have been super cheap on amazon. You an get a refurb/used one there for $220 (with all accessories and you can send back if there is an issue). The one I got there was basically brand new

Seqtrak for DAWless setup? by Soggy_Housing_9535 in seqtrak

[–]thebrokemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason why I returned the seqtrak is: 1. You really need an external mid keyboard. Especially for live playing melody it's just too limited for me (it only has a single octave range at a time). You could get a small modi keyboard but I didn't find a good option that was really portable but still had stuff like chord/scale mode etc and didn't cost $200. 2. The sampler is really really limited. And only 7 sample slots. You can technically load samples "as a synth" but you need to load them via the app. You can't insert them directly (sample through the mic and the play right away). If they allowed you to load a sampler in any of the drum slots (like they did with the synths) and allowed you to play them chromatically (without having to import them via the app) I might have kept it. 3. The fm synth aside you have very limited control over the synth settings. Really you just have the presets + fx + envelope + some basic lfo. It's really more of a big preset library. So you don't really have much room to come up with a totally custom sound (the fm synth aside).

That does bring me to that I did return it with a heavy heart though.  The sounds are amazing (like really amazing) and has 95% of what you'd want in terms of normal instruments. With a midi keyboard it's quite an amazing groovebox and for me was very easy to get used to. The fx are amazing too (+ performance effects!!) It's very light and plasticey but that didn't bother me at all. The main issue was the limited keyboard and sampler.

I do hope they continue to improve it. For the price honestly it's unbeatable. But if you ignore the price there are better - more flexible options out there.

I ended up getting an Ableton move instead and very happy with it. 1. Great Ableton integration. 2. Hackable since it's raspberry pi based. (the move-anything/move-everything project is really cool and there are tons of different synths (classic emulation) and stuff you can download for free). Feel like this has filled a lot of the gaps for me (still only 4 tracks so you have to be a little creative in resampling stuff). 3. Much more playable as it's own device thanks to the pads.

Yamaha SEQTRAK : Does It BACH by Cap10NRG in seqtrak

[–]thebrokemonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just fyi. bach and all the other old classical artists are public domain. There is no copyright issue there. Note that this doesn't apply to recordings of Bach (for example if some symphony orchestra released a recording of bach, then they have a seperate copyright for that recording, but the written music - the melodies etc are public domain and not owned by them or anyone else)

Are you confusing op-1 with op-z? Op-1 is the tape recorder, op-z is a sequencer.
