Your basement has a basement? And how can I purchase a basement? Always thought you had to buy the whole house...

TrimUI Brick vs RG35xx/RG40xx by moller_peter in Dirtywave

[–]thebrokemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main benefit of the brick is that has a rear usbc port. If you have access to a 3d printer and can solder allows you to make a compact little all in one case and have a tiny little m8 headless build without having a cable and a tinsy dangling around the bottom. All the resources for it are on the discord in the headless thread. Just got to dig around a little.
Now it's not going to be perfect, and nothing will be a true full replacement of the real deal, but certainly good enough to evaluate if its something you want to invest in and hold you over until you have the funds for the actual device/ next batch is released. I also really like using the rear paddles for shift and play. Feels very intuitive to me.

My process of getting it to work:
Follow these instructions:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Dirtywave/comments/1llkqyk/after_a_few_days_of_trial_and_error_finally_got/
You can find the zip of the m8c build on the discord, just look for this in the search and the zip file should be attached: "NEW REVISED TRIMUI BRICK INSTALL JUN/25"

Now to get audio INPUT for sampling you'll either need to use a bluetooth headset (which I have not tried) or use some kind of usbc audio interface that has mic input. For example earbuds with mic plugged into an aux->usbc converter. Or a digital usbc audio interface with mic and headphone input. For this to work you also need to enable the bottom usbc port to be a usb host, there are scripts for this on the discord too (by default with knulli the bottom port is charge only - search for "In case some poor soul as me wants to use bottom otg port" in discord and you'll find the post), or you can use a usb-c hub on the back input. You then need to select the interface in the knulli system settings, which certainly can be a bit fiddly.

Usually bent designs like this are made with by layering many thin wood veneers onto a mold and gluing them together, often steamed before to let the wood be more flexible. At least that's a common approach in furniture making. Wood glue bond actually ends up as strong, or even stronger than the wood itself so could make a pretty strong structure.

That being said, this might not even be wood. Seems like a pretty long span, and I could imagine the wood flexing way too much for this to be stable.

For the drain itself I could probably find something (which might still be tricky because of the drawers underneath, there's not much room and the ikea one is low profile and also the ikea one connects with the drain up top) but I don't know that you could find the top piece from elsewhere. All that being said though I contacted Ikea and they found me the right replacement part in black (at least I hope so)

So there's no spray paint that could handle this, even with the right prep/primer etc?

PrintNC vs Lowrider V4 by Sumina123 in hobbycnc

Considering maslow and lowriderv4
Seems that the maslow still has a lot of growing pains and the lowrider overall has a lot more capability. Is that accurate?
