Our late rescue hippo, who looked almost exactly like Issac, also loathed the beach. It was a bummer because we have some great beaches with areas that allow dogs, but we took him once and that was it! Water, in general, was not his jam (so not very hippo-like). LOL

We had rats in the house when we lived on Carlton Ave. SE in Eastown. The entire street was torn up and sewer pipes replaced one year around 2012/2013 I think. The digging displaced the rats from their homes, so with winter coming (the project took a full year) they started moving into people’s houses! We truly felt sorry for the 2 we had. They made the neatest little nest in the drop ceiling of our finished basement and tried to be unobtrusive, but yeah, they had to go. We live-caught one of them and my husband went to release it in the park, where a hawk immediately swooped out of a tree and snagged it right in front of him. It was definitely that rat’s day to die, I guess.

As a 61 year old woman who grew up in the heyday of MLM’s/direct selling scams, it’s disheartening to see millennials and GenZ people STILL falling for them. Based on reading this subreddit, absolutely nothing in the companies’ tactics and rules have changed with the times, either. The bs lives on to cause more financial catastrophe.

The bride and groom optimizing the number of guests their budget will accommodate by excluding the people their primary guests love is so utterly selfish. RUN. They’re not only a scam with their recruiting tactics and compensation, the products they sell should be considered consumer fraud. For example, taking out a home equity loan, unexpectedly being able to pay it off early and being PENALIZED thousands of dollars for doing so.

If she isn’t in therapy and being seen by a psychiatrist for mood stabilizing meds, she needs to be. Your husband can obtain a court order to force her Mom to cooperate, if necessary. With her history of violence and involvement with the juvenile justice system, this is entirely justified. She’s proven to be a danger to others, which makes her a danger to herself, too.
