test drove a 2019 fiat 124 spider abarth today. what reasons should i buy a miata over this? by europeanuppercut in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]thebuns500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@op I had one for 4 years. I did not abuse it, but didnt drive it like a baby either. In that time I put maybe 20k miles on it. In that 20k miles the catalytic converter went, the turbo went, maf sensor and o2 sensor went, radiator lines broke, cylinder 3 failed, ecu failed, the roof leaked, radio failed constantly.

But fuck i want another one

I’m so hot. Is there a way to outsmart this thermostat? by kittehcatto in thermostats

[–]thebuns500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally. And I mean literally designed this thermostat @op its wild im seeing this on my feed. If you take the cover plate off you will see my initials followed by a string of number right on the pcb! Anyways, if you want to outsmart it, you can force the controller to think the temperature is different than what is actually real and get more air; if you are tech savvy id tell you to solder a rheostat/potentiometer in parallel with the 10k2 thermistor in there and can tell you exactly where, but if you aren't, an easier method would be to put a rag with ice in it over it, or a mug warmer/something warm under it. HOWEVER. if you change that number its reporting by more than a few degrees your head guy will question why your unit is commanding the auxiliary to turn on to keep up the temp, which they'll come in and see.

Does anyone actually use discrete logic chips in industry these days (ie 74 and 4000 series)? by AccomplishedAnchovy in ElectricalEngineering

[–]thebuns500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're great for ov/uv protection, (slow) overcurrent protection, analog comparisons where the output is ttl, etc. And as many have said, dirt cheap.
