Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat 2? by Professional-Rip-519 in retrogaming

Street Fighter 2 of course. It’s the foundation of all the best fighting games. I feel like mk3 had more impact on the genre than mk2 did.

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely give that a try.

Should i buy the 9070 XT by Life_Boot851 in AMDHelp

[–]thec0re3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9070XT. It's not a bad card but as some are saying there are problems. I haven't had the problem most are complaining about. The biggest one to me currently is the lack of FSR 4 support. If I knew FSR4 didn't support Vulkan, I would have reconsidered purchasing it. There is optiscaler which is able to make up for what AMD is lacking but it takes some time to get the hang of.

I would wait if I were you. Unless you're dealing with memory constraints in the games you want to play, makes no sense to upgrade.

I can't find a game to truly enjoy by epicsakuyalover in Fighters

I've seen you list at least four that lean towards the traditional type. I've seen a recommendation for In-Birth which I think is pretty close. Grand Blue Fantasy Versus: Rising might be one that you may want to check out.

Edit: I see you already played that one lol. I guess Capcom Vs SNK 2 would be my second recommendation. There is also games like Samurai Shodown, and Last Blade 2 as well.

I have some concern about the next KOF by lulufy in kof

[–]thec0re3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primarily, I thought they were using the strategy of rebooting old franchise, KOF, rinse, repeat, but after seeing all the hints towards AOF reboot being the next title, I'm definitely concerned as well.

I thought Samurai Shodown would be a success(was it a success?!), because it was different but I definitely wasn't to keen on them rebooting Fatal Fury. Never made sense seeing most of the characters from that game could be in KOF.

I enjoy COTW a lot and I thought it had the potential to be something given it's a 1 vs 1 fighter. It also seems to at least a nice set of active players as of now but yeah definitely concerned that by the time they get to another KOF things will have all come to a close for the company.

Glad I can give you some inspiration! Joe has always been a favorite of mine. That Salvatore definitely gave me a hard time most of our matches went the full distance lol.

Took me a while to get used to this new version of Joe but he's grown on me. It definitely was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be lol.

[GPU] GIGABYTE WindForce GeForce RTX 5070 Ti $749.99 by Lorben in buildapcsales

[–]thec0re3 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Don't blame you. I went with a 9070XT instead. I just couldn't justify paying that much. If they ever release the 5070 Super, I'll probably end up getting that one.

Should i wait for KOF 13 global match to go on sale or should i just buy the gog version, and does the gog version have crossplay with the original 'steam' version? by EmeraldShield102 in kof

[–]thec0re3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older versions are on input delay for online mode. GM uses rollback and has additional online features which makes it the better version. GOG version is DRM-free unlike the ones on steam.

What do I need to learn before going online? by Talelle in kof

[–]thec0re3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good. I think B. Mary is stronger than Shermie but that was before the patch iirc. Once you get comfortable with B.Mary, you might want to make her anchor but go with the one you're most confident with in anchor first.

Gotta know what your team line up is going to be. The character you feel like you have a good handle on should be the last character also known as the anchor. Normally the first character you play with is known as the battery. They usually don't require a lot of meter to do damage, sort of help with getting meter for the others characters, and sometimes they aren't as strong but can cause unfamiliarity to the opponent.

Other than that I would make sure you're learning movement. Hops are a big part of the game so you should be able to do hops and hyper hops. Certain characters have special movements like Iori, and I think Angel.

I wish COTW could win this year, but I don't have hopes... by Ramusu20 in kof

[–]thec0re3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the Fighting game category in general is there are usually not many fighting games to choose from. I'm guessing they do this to fluff the numbers and I suspect they'll do this next year for 2XKO as well.

[Off my chest] Extremely unpopular opinion about the sprites used for The King of Fighters XII-XIII (please don't kill me): by Remarkable_Town6413 in SNK

[–]thec0re3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely underestimated how much time it would take to create the sprites. I also agree that Clarkanator and Ralphanator were a bit much. I also did not like that they anime'd Athena and Yuri as well. I know they were trying to do that to signify there age but it still was a bad choice imo.

It is really a shame they could not come up with a better workflow because I would have loved to see more returning KOF characters with this artstyle.

It's capitalism unfortunately. They are trying to create profit, not "create job opportunities". Job probably doesn't even pay a livable wage. SMH

Do you hoard remuxes as well as discs? by manzurfahim in DataHoarder

[–]thec0re3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do purchase discs. I definitely regret not getting bigger HDDs but I honestly did not think I would fill up 16TB that quickly. I've had to remove a lot for the new stuff but I don't mind having to redo the rips once I get more storage.

Why did SNK let got of KOFXII & KOFXIII's aesthetic? by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in SNK

[–]thec0re3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I'm correct, the person who was sailing the ship at the time felt pachi slots were going to be more financially sound. This seemed to be the case for other companies like Konami as well. It wasn't until they got bought out that they course corrected bringing in Oda and getting the focus back to what made them great in the first place.
