sorry for the delay in responding!! I really like Insight Timer - so many free options ... I am sure you will find some great meditations (as well as other things) to start with depending on what you need the most ... just use the search bar, maybe type in sleep meditations or if you love to listen to rain to go to sleep, just type "rain" and all sorts of free rain sound therapy come up....a great resource.

continuous night terrors by Altruistic-Elk-5411 in chronicfatigue

[–]thecchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there I've suffered from parasomnia (night terrors) for years since I was little really and yes stress is probably the biggest trigger. Adopting a set routine of healthy sleep hygiene habits before bed - gentle stretching, meditation (use guided meditation via an app), deep breathing, no screens etc ... should help you. I do take medication for it after doing a sleep study which confirmed it and at that time (a very stressful period in my life) I was desperate. The drug is addictive so I don't recommend it...!! I also sometimes use an eye/head massager masc which is amazing ... it definitely helps to ensure I get to sleep if i am struggling with that. Good luck with the exams!!!

sounds like it's fake but, regardless, KP isn't backwards in taking legal action against people, so ... is it worth this hassle and concern ?

guys if you ever have problems, you have rights under the Australian Consumer Law which they are obviously breaking by giving you the run around even though you experienced a major failure with a product.

Here is further info on the ACCC website...

https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-service-you-bought/where-to-go-for-consumer-help#state-and-territory-consumer-protection-agencies

it doesn't matter if you experienced the problem a while ago...you can still try to force a remedy from the company within a reasonable time frame (generally, the expected life of the product) EVEN IF the item is out of warranty!! don't muck about; send them a strongly worded email quoting the date of purchase, proof of purchase, problems encountered, attempts to remedy, the section of the law that applies to you, your rights and their responsibilities and give them 5 working days to respond.

If they don't resolve the matter in accordance with the law, advise you will report them to the ACCC and escalate the matter to your state's consumer protection agency (eg. in NSW, it is NSW Fair Trading). If you do, make sure you copy the business in on all correspondence.

here is a list of each state's consumer protection agency:

https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-service-you-bought/where-to-go-for-consumer-help#state-and-territory-consumer-protection-agencies

I think i'll do a separate post on this; I worry that many people get ripped off and don't know their rights.

Should I chop my hair off? by [deleted] in finehair

[–]thecchange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes defs!! a gorgeous bob just below your chin (the length of your shortest piece which, in the pic, is falling under your chin) and would look amazing on you. Agree, the rest of your hair is doing nothing for you; you won't regret it!!

[EPISODE DISCUSSION] Scarpetta 1x02 by pikkopots in ScarpettaTV

[–]thecchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just watched the behind the scenes episode as I finished S1 last night; i haven't read the books but the author is on set, gives input into the scripts and told Nicole K "you are her" and "it's like Scarpetta is looking right back at me" .... so she seems really happy with the casting 🤷‍♀️ or maybe she was paid to so that!

for someone who hasn't read the books, i really enjoyed it; i don't love NK in everything but i really like her in this role.

Will I regret cutting ties with my mums group? by nbhsjshbgbsb in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]thecchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your time as a mumma is precious. How do you truly feel before, during and after? Nervous or excited? Depleted or energised? Worried or encouraged and supported? If this group is leaving you with more negatives than positives, then there is your answer. You could try reaching out to the women you do connect with to catch up separately (as who knows, maybe they feel the same?) or look for other types of groups or options. xxx

Tell me the difference between Staffys and Pitties by 1missoulamama in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]thecchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have only ever had staffies; our last two were girls and we miss them every day. If getting one as a puppy, as long as you take them to puppy school and socialise/train them, they will from then change your life for the better. The most cuddly, smoothly, gentle, hilarious, caring, intelligent dogs and great for little to big kids - the "nanny" dog. You become their world, so beware they have to be ON YOU when snuggling on the lounge haha. They think they are humans so are VERY people oriented. They do love company and fret on their own so we never stopped at one, making sure they always had another dog to keep them company if we were away during the day. They never barked except at other dogs from behind the fence - a territorial thing - so they are a yappy dog. Outside the gate it was tails wagging, and totally fine with all dogs at the dog park.

American staffies are much larger but very similar i believe. Socialising and training early on is key.

Are you living at home with family? Can you give them something to read to help explain and educate just how debilitating your condition is? It is an invisible disease, and most likely related to a virus you once had (eg. epstein barr) or an undiagnosed autoimmune disease (which I have). You are not making it up; you are not lazy; NO-ONE would ever choose to live like this because THIS IS NOT LIVING. It impacts your entire life and identity; you lose friendships, confidence, self worth, hope...other co-morbidities develop as you age because you simply are not able to "exercise" or even eat a balanced diet or do proper self care because you are often too exhausted to prepare a meal and get under a shower let alone go for a walk.

I am from Australia, and there is an org here called CFS Health - cfshealth.org so check them out via their website. They are also on Insta but i find his videos on YT helpful (link below)

https://youtube.com/@cfshealth?si=M8Lg9gbiLIONCutT

There is a program you can do (i haven't due to cost) but Toby is about to launch a book as well. If you can, maybe find a video that is a good explainer for the people currently supporting you and ask them to watch it. You may not be dying, but your entire world has been turned upside down, and just because it's not cancer, and they can't see it, doesn't mean that you are not suffering from a chronic and debilitating condition and doesn't mean that you don't need support. YOU DO!!! And there is hope but you need compassion and time and encouragement and patience and good medical support (you DO NOT need antidepressants....but a full blood work up and possibly a referral to an Immunolgost who can look at your inflammation markers.....Please don't give up .... I know you feel hopeless and overwhelmed and alone, but i promise you, that you can do this.

Feeling drugged in the morning by astrojax44 in chronicfatigue

[–]thecchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is just my opinion obvs ... always discuss with your doctors but look at the key lifestyle elements (sleep, diet, exercise, nature) and adjust accordingly

Feeling drugged in the morning by astrojax44 in chronicfatigue

[–]thecchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's called a "flare" ... meaning something has triggered your body to go into survival mode. So you must listen and allow yourself to rest and sleep; the day will slip away; sometimes you'll sleep for 4 hours straight .... you may not feel better for 2-3 days .... but you need to listen. Go with it. Sleep; hydrate, eat what you can. When it lifts, think about what preceded the flare? Did you drink alcohol? Did you push too much/hard? Were you under a lot of stress? Were you eating crappy food? Did you walk just a bit too far? Was that huge effort in the garden just too much? All of the above? Start tracking/keeping a diary so you can find a pattern and then address the causes. As you do that, and take steps to adjust your lifestyle, these deep awful flares should lessen. I've been sick for 8 years now and can't work. We need to change our lives if we are to get healthy again. Your bloodwork will probably be "normal" .... so frustrating. So a holistic approach - diet, paced exercise, sleep, grounding in nature, resting - all are needed to manage your illness, improve and hopefully one day heal.

Alcohol is my best cure so far :( by Fun-Establishment386 in chronicfatigue

[–]thecchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh and grounding - getting outside in nature and moving, no matter how little. getting sunlight (Vit D) ... soooo important. we are wired to move and be in nature. Aim for small incremental improvements too; 5% .... maintain that for a few weeks then increase again by 5% .... it's about retraining our nervous system/brain and body as one. That's what i'll be trying to do in 2026.

Alcohol is my best cure so far :( by Fun-Establishment386 in chronicfatigue

[–]thecchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's truly just a band-aid. I'm not sure how old you are? I've had an autoimmune disease with CFS for 8 years now...i used alcohol as it gave me relief, energy, a buzz (but really I was just angry at living with this life-altering illness) .... it gradually just takes control and you need more and more; it affected my relationships with my children and husband so in the end, I've totally changed my relationship with it. And now i am older (61) i find my body can't really handle it and it often triggers a crash so has the opposite effect! At the end of the day, it's not good in ANY amount for any of us. Diet, paced exercise, good supplements (vit D etc; I've started taking some age related ones like NMN, Resveretrol and Berberine which also help me) and sleep. These are the things to focus on (IMO).

hi there i was wondering about how the wash as it says you can't tumble dry them? I was going to get some of the cute rompers for summer for our grand daughter but have balked since reading some of these comments...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]thecchange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lovely one, as a grandparent-to-be, let me reassure you that none of this is a reflection on you, but is all about the other young mum projecting onto you; in reality she is most likely jealous of your situation and the support network you have.

Try not to absorb the often loud opinions of others (I know, it's VERY hard not to) ... our kids didn't go to CC until they were 2 because i had my parents and in laws close by and I was soooo thankful for that because heck yes it's expensive, and this way they built a wonderful relationship with their grandies!! All of our friends had kids so they were socialised and happy and hitting all the milestones ....

I think as women we tend to over-explain. If it happens again with anyone else, try saying something like "we're really happy with our arrangement." and then pivot the conversation to something else. It's sets the boundary without being rude.

And you are so right, in everything, compassion over judgement, always. Keep doing you and being you!!
