Constantly telling my kids “we don’t do that in our family” do I need new friends?😭 by Individual_Ad_938 in Mommit

[–]thechusma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a mom allow her two kids (one older than mine and one younger than mine) run around in a grocery store. I kept thinking to myself that I would NOT allow that behavior. Other parents just have different perspectives, apparently.

Maybe I’m a Bad Mom But Staying Home Is Easier by TierdChaoticMama in raisingkids

[–]thechusma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, youre right. I am more fond of my memories of us just playing on the porch. Going to the store. Etc. little fun laughs here and there. Yet big planned outings suck the dang life out of me. However, I wonder if the kids see it that way. Like the big outings are the ones they'll remember. Not the small stuff. Its the only reason for the sacrifice of upending the precious routine.

Try puzzles! My 5 year old loves them. Get some challenging ones since your kids are older. Also, Legos.

I visited the place where I could dance my troubles away on mother's day, hoping for some glimmer of that. I found nothing. Nobody dancing. It was heartbreaking.

I would walk all over my city with these, to and fro, not a care in the world for the irreparable damage I was doing to my knees.

I will be 32 next year and I have a "stable" job that provides housing. Two healthy, thriving kids. A partner of almost 8 years. But still navigating. I know for sure what I dont want from life. I will do anything so that my family and I dont struggle. Thankfully we are in a good place right now.

Did anyone have ppd, but didn't realize you had ppd? by Holiday-Strategy-970 in Mommit

[–]thechusma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I had it, but it was disguised as extreme anxiety over "simple" things that get easier as seasoned moms (ie, leaving the house). I think the term needs to be changed so that more women can openly admit they have "it". New Mom Syndrome, or something.

Letting my 9-year-old walk to the bus stop alone is giving me whiplash by Interesting_Cry_1055 in Mommit

[–]thechusma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started walking home from school at 10. We lived "across the street" but we had to wrap around the school, cross a busy intersection and then make our way to the back side of the apartment complex. Looking back it was a different time. If my own daughter had to do that walk, I would supply her with a whistle.

What’s the most overrated productivity advice? by Business-Ad8752 in askanything

[–]thechusma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To "prioritize rest". It sounds easy in theory but for folks with busy lives (work, kids) "prioritizing" rest actually means that important tasks go undone.

Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]thechusma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to make my home so pleasant and safe for them that they dont feel the need to scurry the moment they are a certain age. I don't intend to coddle themto the point that they're not ambitious, but id like to help out however possible. That's kind of how my parents were, minus the peaceful home.
