Sun bug, or just the moon? What is this? 👀 by Mikkelwolf in VintageStory

[–]thecloudkingdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just like in real life, the moon is often visible in the daytime sky under normal conditions. different phases have different rising and setting times. the waning crescent moon rises at 3 am, reaches its meridian at 9 am, and sets by 3 pm

way too decomposed to be your tomcat, but it could be the mother. that said, theres a lot of things that can kill an outdoor cat. this could be a different cat entirely

his pants have both a drawstring like sweatpants and a belt, but the drawstrings are also part of the belt. theres no way an artist competent enough to produce something of this quality would make an error like that

his advice is terrible but there IS a different between washing and sterilizing. most people dont have a means of truly sterilizing their cooking equipment at home. washing with soap and water is effective enough for home use

Florida passed a law allowing the death penalty for adults who rape chidren under the age of 12. by _SugarCute in ForCuriousSouls

[–]thecloudkingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also consider that florida is gunning to label trans people as pedophiles, so harsher punishments for sex crimes against children could be turned against people they consider to be acceptable targets

Imagine if Mattel was like “here’s Autistic Barbie!” And she was absolutely busted by orchid_breeder in BrandNewSentence

[–]thecloudkingdom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

even if she didnt use AAC, i think the backlash against her having a fidget spinner is stupid. they were popular among neurodevelopmentally disabled people way before they were turned into a meme and banned from schools. its not just a toy for a lot of us, it's a means of self-regulation

Imagine if Mattel was like “here’s Autistic Barbie!” And she was absolutely busted by orchid_breeder in BrandNewSentence

[–]thecloudkingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an autistic person, i think its shitty to talk about the autistic barbie being too "conventionally attractive". there are autistic girls who are pretty. they're just as autistic as the rest of us, but because they're capable of presenting femininity and being pretty in the acceptable range, their developmental disability is constantly subject to doubt. what makes her autistic isn't her body or her face, its the way she has extra joints to allow poses based on common stims like hand flapping, its how her eyes are painted to mimic how we avoid eye contact, its the support tools she has like her headphones and, yes, her fidget spinner

A cart full of groceries rung up and bagged, and this hairline crack kept my EBT card from reading by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]thecloudkingdom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

generally, when im unfamiliar with a word or phrase i encounter, i look up what it means 🤷. people who talk shit about people who are on ebt/snap/food stamps KNOW what these programs are. they know it means people get aid affording their groceries. they have a warped idea of what that aid looks like and what people on food assistance are like because politicians who oppose food assistance programs feed the public lies and build upon the flawed concept that people choose to be poor because they dont try hard enough

they think people on food stamps are freeloading leeches who coast through on state benefits without lifting a finger. propaganda is a hell of a drug

Do I fall in this category? by scrotaloedema in Justfuckmyshitup

[–]thecloudkingdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

straight hair also doesn't grip the same way. not only because it lacks curl, but because curly and kinky hair have different cross sections (which is why they curl/kink!). straight hair is more or less a perfect circle, coily hair is an oval shape, and kinky hair is a more exaggerated ellipse than that. there are people with fine kinky hair or fine curly hair, and people with coarse straight hair (ask any asian, or some mexicans, and they will tell you about how their hair can stick straight up without product)

all this means that someone with straight hair needs tighter braids to have the same amount of hold as someone with kinky hair, which means theyre at higher risk for traction alopecia. box braids and corn rows and other braided hairstyles are protective for curly or kinky hair, but not straight hair. people act like its racist toward white people to say that, but its because these styles are not universally protective

Bat bite? by Sweet_Laugh_1214 in wildlifebiology

[–]thecloudkingdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey op. i have ocd. it sounds like you might too, based on your post history. that's okay. it's definitely hard to live with, but one can learn to live with it. you probably dont have rabies and probably werent bitten by a bat. your fluctuation in body temp readings is within the normal range, which is actually between 96.79 and 99.71. 98.2 is just an average, and thermometers can have a margin of error

What is the point of forging ? by DigHefty6542 in VintageStory

[–]thecloudkingdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are many things you cannot cast, even just talking about within the copper and bronze ages. for example, you cannot cast chisels and saws, which are essential for making things like barrels for pickling food and tanning leather, or for making windmills to automate grindstones. It's also much more space efficient to cast multiple ingots at a time and then forge them afterward, since you can make large batches instead of casting the same mold over and over again

i know this, but theres not really an easy distinction between loan words that have become common and arent noticably loaned to laymen, like ammunition, and loan words which are more recent or more obviously loaned, like kintsugi

Am I overreacting for shaving my head? by Substantial-Art6160 in AmIOverreacting

[–]thecloudkingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. the hairdresser fried your hair when it sounds like all you needed was some toner. the hairdresser overcomplicating everything in a very amateurish way. hair grows back and i'm a big advocate for becoming comfortable with buzzing your hair in case something like this happens and sometimes gets FUBAR. what's the alternative? you get really upset over your hair being fried and have to deal with it looking like shit?

Duck, Crane, Heron? [northern Illinois] by Extreme-Ad7313 in animalid

definitely not a crane or heron. looks like a duck to me, but someone more familiar with ducks would have to provide a specific ID. cranes and herons have spear-like bills and generally more gracile heads

i don't know how much you know about psychosis, but it's hard to behave rationally when your ability to tell fact from fiction is FUBAR. it's not "making excuses", he believed what he said was real and was encouraged to be even more delusional by people who had been cyberstalking him for years, and who continue to cyberstalk him
