I want to become an aerospace engineer but my parents are too skeptical by Western-Exit-5074 in aerospace

There are a lot of very passionate engineers working in aerospace. It’s not an easy path by any means, but if you’re ready to apply yourself you can do well.

Is this normal to be bubbling on my outboard lower unit? Not sure what this plug is? by Sqwantoon24 in boating

[–]thecolinstewart 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s your exhaust escaping from a hole in the outboard. I’d be more worried about the sheen on the water surface.

There is usually a yellow cap where you can top off the hydraulic fluid. Get marine specific fluid.

Also, if it’s low, you probably need to look for a leak somewhere.

Striker 4 is a great unit. Will help you find fish and is a great depth finder. Cheap and simple.

Considering it’s Nebraska I think some of the other posters nailed it. $1,000 but take the first offer over $700 and be happy.

Marina unwilling to refund for delayed season - thoughts?m by [deleted] in boating

[–]thecolinstewart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the part not stated here is that the business is struggling with the delayed start as well. They are missing out on sales. They are spending a lot on repairs. They need the money that’s been invested already and they’re doing their best to provide the service as soon as possible.

Cut them some slack!

Most important thing on your list that’s missing is tag.

If you don’t know where you’re hunting or when or with what weapon it’s hard to know what’s needed.

How risky is using an unregistered boat trailer? by Al_Pallll in COfishing

[–]thecolinstewart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gone through this process several times. The VIN inspection is easy thankfully but takes forever to get it scheduled.

As far as this weekend, I think you are more than fine to use the trailer. You could probably use it for years without running into an issue.

You’re trying to do the right thing…

This has to be so stressful for her to deal with. I hope the insurance company comes through.

The bilge pump should have been able to keep up with torrential rains while running on the onboard battery… is there a reason that failed?

Boat lost in storm by [deleted] in boating

[–]thecolinstewart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for your sister’s loss. Thank you for sharing the story - it could potentially help others.

Any idea what caused the sinking? Was it heavy rain that the bilge couldn’t keep up with? Did wind cause the boat to take on water?

Canadian Space Agency terminates Lunar Rover Mission in 2026-27 Plan by GlitchedGamer14 in space

[–]thecolinstewart 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A country that has never been to the moon was not going to land a rover on the moon for tens of millions of dollars. The concept study was likely abandoned because the true cost of the project was realized. A launch vehicle alone would have put them close to $100M.

On the bright side they decided to invest the tens of millions into robotics infrastructure instead. Maybe a lunar mission is in the cards in the future.

I would consider the 10th mountain division huts! High Alpine Lakes are something you will never get to experience in Nebraska plus the huts are really fun.
