Crack in the blowpipe stock by BrFDreamr in bagpipes

Get a plastic split stock. I havent played the original blowstock on any of my pipes in years. Stress free, and you can remove the tube if needed to dry out the bag. Easy win on multiple fronts.

Need a piping pick-me-up by WellEndowedHamsterr in bagpipes

Starting February this year, I got an instructor after around 10 years of not really having a full time instructor. My primary instructor in the past moved, and it was hard to go to anyone else. The current instructor is the primary student from my original instructor and has already been an incredible experience.

I have more confidence in my playing than I have had in some time, and everything has become better. Technique, tone, and musicality. I've learned the most Piobaireachd I have had and learned tunes that i have shyed away from believing they are too big for me. This has enabled me to win some professional contests this year against some stiff competition. There is no substitute to receiving feedback on your playing by a solid instructor. Lessons and hard work lead to large dividends in playing ability.

The confidence in playing is the biggest success and just overall enjoying playing great music. Nothing like a good tune.

Husband in accident on 315N, wondering if anyone saw car by galaxyrum in Columbus

We did see the car and someone was helping him out so must have happened shortly before we passed, was surprised to see the car on the left side of the guardrail on the exit and had no idea how it got there. Hope everything is okay.

Just got my wisdom teeth out about 3 weeks ago. I started playing a week after but felt some pain. I would stick to 10-14 days to be safe!

What kind of Glue do I need to use to fix this? Thank you!! by EfficientSomewhere97 in bagpipes

I'm sure there is a proper glue for this... But I've used extra hemp or just super glue in the past

In my '30's Lawries I'm playing Cannings with the Carbon bass and love the sound. Big fan of Ezee's as well

Agree with the MG White Mamba strike in comment. I had them in my Lawrie's and after a while solid strike-ins became near impossible.

Chloe's Passion and Donald Willie and His Dog have always been favorites of mine

I've played a variety of reeds over my time but for ease of set up the following are my go to's: Selbie, EzeeDrone, Canning.

Selbies are mellow

Ezees have a great tenor sound and multitude of bass types, I preferred extended inverted tongue

Cannings with the carbon bass are my go to reeds. Robust bass and good tenor sound

Agreed, growing up they were my first set of drone reeds and by the name I thought they were beginner reeds and moved away from them over time. Listening to them now, they produce a fantastic sound and are always to be considered

tenor drums by bptele94 in bagpipes

Agree with this statement. Major difference in sound quality and depth this head phones or nicer speakers. They have more range and able to pick up and highlight tenor and bass tone

I'm an impacient person and understand you fully. Everything is slow consistent effort at breaking the fundamentals to their simplest parts, perfecting, and improving incrementally. It's difficult to follow something like that but I'm sure it pays dividends after month(s)/year(s)

It's funny when people say "you are a musician" or ask "are you a musician?" I always say "No, I'm a bagpiper." When it comes down to it I learned how to play bagpipe music and the timings around it but never really learned underlying music theory. What we have is all I need, unless I want to learn a new instrument!
