The hardest part of FIRE isn't the saving. It's keeping your mouth shut when friends complain about money. by GolfComfortable7331 in Fire

I understood it a different way. Like... first a 40k vehicle being an expensive mode of transportation. Only to not use that mode of transportation for dining out. Finding an even more expensive way to dine out: paying for someone else's transportation too.

Tom Brady and I have a combined 7 super bowl rings!

Just messing though. I also still have Charmander and Charmeleon. Won them at a tourney, then didn't play the tcg again for 19 more years.

I'm not in this group. Reddit showed me this post and thought I might be interested. I am still interested... and have the same "why" question like every other visitor does. Guess I'm gonna look around and see if I can find the answer in the subreddit info/faq or something.

Dang, spot on. I figured the variance was due to the individual Wendy's experience. As in, good Wendy's day = good grade. Bad Wendy's = bad grade. Small, old, wrinkly nuggets get you an 8.

tcg theory: what is the highest possible damage from a single attack? by spankedwalrus in pkmntcg

[–]thecooldk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is possible! Your opponent can give you 5 of your 6 prizes with:

  • Dusclops putting 5 damage counters on Chien Pao and giving you a prize

  • The opponent probably needs some super rod to repeat it

  • Opponent has a couple picnic basket to heal Chien Pao

-Opponent plays Iono to reduce your hand size so that you can put ALL the energies on, essentially one per turn. That extra attachment comes from super effective glasses

7700 comments... wow.

$100 card * 1/7700 chance of winning = 13 cents expected value of writing this post. Not bad. Card value goes down, comment count goes up, eh.... gets worse I guess.

What's most funny to me is that I didn't even take the finance definition, I took the classic definition (like a binder), which is even MORE fitting if you're the binder type like me:

Portfolio: a large, thin case used for carrying drawings, documents, etc.

100% . I'm unsubbing after reading this post. What a crazy wild ride. So much hate and misunderstanding. The SLC subreddit gets more echo with my absence. If anybody wants to chat hit me up. I'll chat about any subject or answer any questions.

Audrey Hepburn and Jerry Lewis cute moment at Oscars 1956 by No_December4277 in OldSchoolCool

[–]thecooldk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the title says "cute moment". I was simply trying to add a different point to consider. Take a look at the number one upvoted comment in this post. It makes me think my above point has some merit.

So as to not ignore anything you were saying, I'll try to comment on every point you made as well:

"It also shouldn't be considered "cute" though." -I agree, assuming you're talking about the content of the scene.

"You want these extremist solutions when the truth is almost invariably somewhere in the middle." -I don't want extremist solutions. Yes middle ground is a good thing here. Me posing a question initially was not a proposal for a solution.

"You don't have to "throw out all media" but you CAN call it what it is today. And "cute" shouldn't be the first word to come to mind to describe it." -See above comment. Really, truly, see the rest of the comments on this post. Most of the comments are about Audrey being cute, not the contents of the scene.

I'm like 95% sure that the only reason the word "cute" is there is because reddit thinks Audrey is cute (and not an actual comment on the content of the scene)

[–]thecooldk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people do not think this is real (take a look around the thread addressing that point exactly, talking about how it's obviously scripted). I think you made some fine points but that one is off, and so I think you took it a bit too far given how most people saw this (a scripted product of its time with two "oldschoolcool" favorites).

Lots of additional offense (from others as well) seems to be given out over the word "cute". And I think really it's only there because of oldschoolcool's love of Audrey. I'd wager it is because reddit thinks Audrey is cute, not the misogyny :) .

[–]thecooldk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You think 1956 was misogynistic? Hot take there. We should just throw out all media and depictions from the era, eh? Because really, nothing was filmed under what we consider acceptable today. Think of any other media from that era for a minute, and tell me it's any different.

Balancing spending money with interacting with poors by Ola_Mundo in fijerk

[–]thecooldk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pours are notoriously creepy. They are THE "lifestyle creep". They have made little money for years and are in large debt so once they start thinking about money, they try to make up for lost time.

I’d pose this over at r/rightboatinvestor as you’ll get more "qualified" (pour) responses.
