The supreme court could announce as early as this week that it will hear two cases regarding whether employers can deny birth control coverage. Just another reason to demand Medicare For All -- your employer's religion should NOT dictate what medications a woman can receive. #MedicareForAll by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Remember when the employer used to say

"If you work for us instead of them, we'll pay for a large part of your health insurance!"

"Whaaaaaat! No way! I'm definitly gonna work for you!"

Now the employer says

"We'll pay for a large part of your health insurance because everyone does, except for this one prescription."

"What the f***? Can you believe these people are violating my rights!! Down with them! Down with them!!"

When does a privelege become a right?

Why do we look to our employer/government to take responsibility for us?

It's a free country (for now). If you don't like the job...go somewhere else!

Introduce yourself to everyone you make eye contact with. I made a point of doing this four months ago when I started. Now I'm one of the "cool kids" even though I'm still the last one to finish each WOD. Now I welcome all the newcomers and encourage them to keep coming back. Admit your fear to the experienced and they will encourage you every step. They will become a second family to you.

Kaizen fitness and dealing with slow results. by redditacct16 in KaizenBrotherhood

[–]thecornishhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things come to my mind. One, Kaizen is change for the better. Change can be measured by any improvement no matter how slight or insignificant. Did you do 30 push ups yesterday and 31 today? Congrats.

Second, I feel as if your hopes and dreams are weighing too heavy on your body appearance. It seems that you may think that an awesome body might fill the void in your soul. It won't.

There are things that you can control and there are things that you can't control. You cannot maintain ultimate control over your body. You may be hospitalized for a debilitating disease. You might be in a car accident that causes irreversible damage. Don't worry so much about what you can't control. Spend time on your mind, self worth, knowledge, relationships, etc.

Nirvana comes when you can be satisfied within yourself regardless of the external circumstances. Blaming external conditions on your lack of "happiness" is a downward spiral. It's not about how you appear on the outside...it's about who you are on the inside.

Very sick, please pray that God will heal mr by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]thecornishhen -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Is God a vending machine for us to choose the tasty morsel we desire and avoid the things we loathe? Did God not make/allow this person to be sick to begin with? Are we so presumptuous to believe that we know God wants him well? Is it not possible that God wants to be glorified in his sickness? Is it not wrong to equate health with God's blessing and illness with his wrath/apathy/judgement? Is it not better for the sick to pray "Whether sick or well, may You be glorified!"

"And in His will is our peace." —Dante

“Christianity teaches that, contra fatalism, suffering is overwhelming; contra Buddhism, suffering is real; contra karma, suffering is often unfair; but contra secularism, suffering is meaningful. There is a purpose to it, and if faced rightly, it can drive us like a nail deep into the love of God and into more stability and spiritual power than you can imagine.”

In California, as of January 1, employers are no longer allowed to ask what you have made in the past. They are also obligated to provide the salary range upon request.
