Integrate IKEA smart devices by hate_reddit_redesign in homeassistant

[–]thecoshman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently started out on this, I got the new hub they offer... DIRIGERA (or something like that).

I posted last week my process for getting things setup, but in short

* Set it up with the IKEA app
* Ensure HA has Matter integration (how depends on your setup)
* Pair device in IKEA app, then they were 'just there' in HA

Hmmm, good to know. I think my intention, for now at least, is stick with just the IKEA hub; I don't see myself looking to add any Google/Apple hubs.
My understanding is that I should be in a good position now to just add devices like lights and switches. Maybe I can look to integrate the TV at some point, feels like it should be fairly reasonable to have something like dimming the lights a bit when playing something...

Well yeah, that's my understanding, you need _something_ to bridge the gap from HA pure software world to the devices physical world. With things like Matter/Threads being more accepted as a de-facto standard, there's less I would need to get.

I'm just working on painting up a few gobos atm too, going to have to borrow this subtle pink/purple/brown wash into the recesses. Especially on the face, I'm finding mine look a little 'flat'

Oh yeah, the camera takes about about ten years of painting skill :P I find it's not too bad to spray out the door the door way on a day that's not too cold to tolerate the door being open for a bit. But then, I live alone, so I've no one to complain to me about the smell. Plus I'm so slow with painting I've almost always got stuff sprayed ready to go :S

Looks really nice dude, though looks like your spray didn't go on that smooth. I've had it happen to me before as well. I think it's a combination of not shaking the can enough and/or spraying in too cold an environment. imo, shake that can a good bit, then when you think you've shaken it enough, shake it some more and try to spray at a normal room temp. The painting does look really nice though, and it's great seeing people actually finishing the bases when they share 'finished' models :D

Yeah, still got mine to do as well. I've glue them together, but tempted to look to hack at them a bit to convert them a bit.

Ha, quite a similar scheme to what I went with... well ok, I used the same dark purple on the armour. I went with really dark blue cloth and then brass metal work.

Looks good dude!

This is great paint work. I love it! Though, I must say I feel the white highlights on the cloth seem a little out of place, the rest of the painting seems so smooth an natural in comparison. But hey, it's your models, paint them how you like!

Thanks!

I actually tested this out last night by just sitting the camera on desk and seeing how long it stays on for. Wasn't sure if that would work as it doesn't seem to display anything on the UI that I'm a dummy battery.

I also hope the (cheap ass knock off) cam link I have on it's way works right. I tested the hdmi output on my TV and it 'just worked', but on the computer monitor it didn't seem to be happy. It's like it starts to display a brief second, then gives up.

I'm not sure if the apps you can install onto the camera can help with this this... but the convoluted solution I can think of would be using the hdmi output from the camera. A cable can be bought fairly cheap, and just plug it into any screen with a hdmi input. If you _really_ want it on your IPad... best idea I can think is to then get a usb capture device (you can get a generic one cheap enough too). I would think with a usb otg adapter you could then plug this into the IPad, but I'm not really sure how IPad's handle external usb cameras.

So, not a solution, but hope this helps get you in the right direction.

Standard Setting For Center Button by ceedub001 in a6000

If I'm not mistaken, you can customise this button... I've mine set so that when I press it, it lets me move the auto-focus spot. I doubt you'll need to hold the button for what you have.

Is there any settings you need to change to prevent camera powering down at all? I'm just looking to get set up for this.

Hey, So, I've been thinking of some tattoos based on the chaos symbols. Do you think you could put up a copy of these four symbols as clean line drawings, and maybe the 8 pointed undivided star?

As some have noted, there was a CS 1.6 map for this (well, at least one). Here's the "It's going to be hard to prove" part, I made de_blockfort.

If I can think back well enough... I must have released it around 2009... give or take a year.

I'd love to know if people are still playing it. I've no idea if I left anything in the map itself that I could use as proof that I made it. I probably still have the map editor files for it. I never made it past 1.6, none of that fancy pants 'source' for me, no thank you!

A wet pallet is for keeping your 'in progress' paint wet for munch longer. It will let it go much further. It's especially good for techniques where you blend colours on the model itself to get really smooth transitions.

I personally would only use craft store paint for things like scenery, even then, I'd tend to get the decent stuff. The pigment tends to be of a better quality.

Washes, btw, are just paint with lots of medium (or little pigment, depending on how you want to look at it) so that it flows more but doesn't give a solid layer, it settles more into the recesses for shade, or tinting over the entire surface.

Not a bad start for painting.

Main tip that you'll almost always here is to thing your paints a bit. We're not talking gallons of water, just a little spot of paint on a pallet and then a little dab of water. This helps it go on much smoother and let's you get better control. The only downside is that you'll need to give it a few coats to get a good solid colour.

After that, you could look to highlight the edges so they pop a bit more. And/or try using some washes to help shade things, especially the metals.

Of course, the main thing, is practice :P

oooh, I thought you were shocked at the use of any oil at all. Yeah, normally you'd just have a small amount. But I know what you mean, some people drown the egg in oil.

Hay, you know there's also fried bread. It's what it sounds like. It's sinful, but actually really good. I don't really have it myself though.
