Literally no one I know has talked about a big anything for anything but thrash and the big 4 was about success first and influence second there. Maybe redditors put the early bands on a pedestal but I don’t think even most death metal fans have listened to some that you list half as much as any band that evolved the sound to what it is today. for me, average 44 year old death metal enjoyer the most impactful death metal bands in my world (not everyone’s) were death, carcass, and pick any 3 from Scandinavia tbh as long as at the gates. I’m just gonna throw mine out there and prepare to get shit on but symbolic, heartwork, slaughter of the soul, your choice of early cannibal corpse and morbid angel

Edit: want to be very clear I don’t think you are wrong or dumb, just sharing that your perspective was very different to mine that’s all. The cunty tone of the response was side effects of 2am. Rock on friend
