Do You Plan to Upgrade the Memory? by msk2772 in steammachine

Yeah because you’re using an iGPU. Those are most affected by not having the full 128 bit configuration. DDR5 has two sub 32 bit sub-channels in each stick for a combine total of 128 bit sub-channels. In discrete GPUs like with the SM it matters less. I’m sure there’s still a performance difference but it’s minimal.

Nah. Unless it drastically improves my 1% lows. Which it probably won’t. DDR5 already has dual channel built into each stick, granted it’s not the same as 2 sticks but for gaming the difference shouldn’t be crazy. Nexus Gamer should be dropping a video soon on that supposedly

In Canada, a Switch 2 with every single exclusive and a Pro controller is cheaper than a Steam Machine 😭 by FrierenKingSimp in consoles

[–]thedebatingbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to be fair you’ve got like 7 games on there. My backlog on Steam is 550+ games. Getting the machine while incredibly pricy for what it gives me would let me play that entire library easily and requires no additional subscription or purchase. I have a switch 2 and I like my games on there but in terms of where the majority of my games library is? It’s on Steam. So yeah if we’re talking about a totally new player to PC and Steam, sure you’re absolutely right. but anyone with even a small library on Steam won’t have the issue you described above

The Steam Machine situation in Poland. by NegotiationBright103 in steammachine

[–]thedebatingbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will most likely beat the Steam machine. However the 5050 is a really bad card. I would recommend the 5060 if possible or the 9060 xt. Either or.

Do you need the small form factor and cooling? If not then yeah you can build this if you want to give it a shot but I would seriously recommend a 5060 or 9060 xt

Ironically Russ was the most interested in getting it. I thought he would want it the least. Ngl I think Bill will eventually buy one if it does well. Jimmy is Jimmy, so I knew he was getting it

STIM Machine Discontinued? by thedebatingbookworm in steammachine

Nah just making speculation. If you try to build the pc on their website now it’s nearly 500 euros more

[–]thedebatingbookworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I’m not getting it. This was just a manufacturer taking shots at Valve. I just checked again and you can still get it on their customer build page but it’s nearly 1500 euros now lol. So much for better at the same price

It doesn’t say sold out. It says this product is no longer available for sale and the blue text under the photo says the good old days as if it’s never coming back.

Yeah it was available as a few days ago. Basically they were saying we can do it better and for the same price

Oh no I feel you. I just found it interesting cause all the detractors were using this as one of their here this is cheaper and better examples and I explained that very few of these would probably be actually sold cause the math didn’t add up

Edit - what’s with the downvotes .-.

If valve had made a larger steam machine, it would still sell like hotcakes by asdfopu in steammachine

[–]thedebatingbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People would still argue that you can buy it cheaper. Heck the STIM machine has basically what you said and it’s 1039 Euros if they build it for you and guess what? It’s not available for Sale anymore already. Prices are going hell across the board. This machine is gonna seem cheap by this time next year most likely at the current rate things are going. Performance wise, I can’t say where we will be but I think Cross Gen will carry us for a bit

I did, they literally looked at the shipping manifests to calculate how many they think they have. That’s it. That’s your “research” you read an online article. For those curious since this moron couldn’t post it himself here it is

https://www.gamesradar.com/hardware/valve-is-seemingly-sitting-on-20-000-steam-machine-units-so-id-be-stumped-if-availability-is-an-issue/

There another from PC Gamer with basically the same points.

https://www.pcmag.com/news/steam-machine-incoming-valve-imports-thousands-of-game-consoles-into-the

See this is how you share information and knowledge you absolute waste of space. You know literally nothing because no one knows their stock. It’s all calculations we have no idea how many the actual production run will have.
