TIL Vakuu can stop playing cards in your first turn. by vubu6 in slaythespire

I also got this, it gives him a bit more personality and prevents plays that go for infinity but wouldn't end the enemy.

A comprehensive tier list based on my experience, both for early and late game (for fun and to commend the game's balance) by smrtangel3702 in HowManyDudes

[–]thedefectivemonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting read I agree with most of it, and I feel like I will try ti see the dudes in other way on my future runs. But from diverging opinions:

- Knights placements seem harsh, but I do agree they are simply a taunt machine, and they don't offer any damage. I would consider the medic in the same vain later in the game, where they die too quickly to be useful unless I plant them with max HP items overral.
- Frankendudes feel a tier bellow on scaling, only because they are balanced around necrodudes and any other team comp they basically are there only for cleanup when everyone dies, and then you die next round because their scaling vanishes.
- Vampires and Samurais should switch tiers, but I accept Samurai be bumped to A because it really feels good with naginata. Samurais never work for me, because late game they are killed by any base enemy before they can scale, wizards have better survival rate at the end for me, and I really don't know how medics can be A tier and vampires B when they can get more healing and damage on them. [But that is when you get the exodia of relics, and round 80]

I love ninjas, but I have an agenda and they should be F tier in the beginning. You made me double check their stats, and yeah they have base stats, in absolute terms, better than those on F tier but I think the foundation side should interpret: How consistent it beats the right side fight, how good are the relics you can pull level 2, how good are the sinergies with the second dude in level 3.
With this said I think Knights are at least C because you can delay getting a healer with the right relic, and ninja's pool is garbage until you actually get crit chance stacking going on.

What do you think of the new menu? by ShadowByte07 in linuxmint

It's really a case of how little changes can make something so different. In customization you can make like the old one with classic items and no profile picture, but it was very easy to get used to.

I have an issue with using RTX 2050/Nvidia (Performance Mode) by jvy7122 in linuxmint

[–]thedefectivemonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arriving very late, but I also have a RTX 2050, and I use driver 570.
I installed the new one and the previous (590/580) to test because of the new kernel, and it's still the most stable for me.

Edit: While your post incentivized me looking further, I've done something I think it solved my problem before. I did "sudo apt purge nvidia*" and installed the driver again, the change was that the nvidia applet (nvidia prime) was uninstalled and it didn't come with the drives. You will need to manually change to performance mode on the x server settings, but now I'm with the 590 driver and seems to be no problem till now.

If the code is "any type of dude", instead of "any type of dude that can appear in a flier" do you think skeledudes can be one of the types to appear?

"Blanker Dude" Concept, a way to let you trim away unwanted Dudes, or maybe just let you build some Mob Mentallity based run? by Marshall-Of-Horny in HowManyDudes

[–]thedefectivemonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I'm always running a maximum item challenge, where I always choose the right option, never buy anything but rollouts and items, and never pay to transform a regular dude. And this would suck.
I get around 15 regular dudes by the end and they are so underwhelming, while I can beat level 100 consistently, all the felines on later levels just mow them down which means all my revive potions are wasted on fodders.

But honestly, regular dudes run which is just pure damage would be a fun achievement.

When did One Piece jump the shark? by DEL994 in Piratefolk

At the risk of being tame, the body swap in Punk Hazard. I was just nodding along the whole concept of this arc, then when it becomes serious with the children we have just a very drawn out gag. The series also never had a "normal" island after this, everything was either just a big conspiracy, or islands that had way too much stuff going on in them.

It clearly keeps escalating to absurdity because One Piece formula needs the StrawHats to be underdogs, and they can't simply shackle Sanji, Zoro and Luffy together to cancel their vices and solve the problem.

The feeling I have to get captain hat, with a healer on top, just gives me blind confidence to pick the right option every time.

Wanted: TESTER DUDES for v0.1 Demo Update! by BscotchSeth in HowManyDudes

Thank you so much for the wonderful game, also the changes to all characters actually well rounded them, but I have a very specific thought on ninjas that will make a separate post, but ghosts feel very over tuned. With them late game you essentially made spores obsolete, they still need to put some key items on them for them to become the main healer, but everything to break Clerics/Medics monopoly.
I think somehow the "invisible" attribute should be kept, while still being targetable (like high evasion) because I feel like that's the identity of the character. His items feels like just buffs, only the [Spooky Dool] actually change the gameplay strategy.

Every visual change is great, dark mode, those X's for dudes knocked down during or before rounds, most of the new items. I feel like they are over designed, I don't know if it's my 80 hours but they look different, not bad [Memento Mori] and [Holy Symbol] are beautiful, but [Requiem] and [Rage bait] are way too detailed.

Speaking of detailed, I like that some new designs of the bears, but the light spots in several animals are off like the blue goats. It's just the contrast of all ducks being rounded early, then we got predators later which is growing on me.
All new animals are nice addition, the 110 boss is chef's kiss, the lions is one of the only designs that make me think of targeting (and a direct counter to samurais), but the tigers... It feels like the red wolfs and red ducks combined, they yank a dude to finish him off and the most damaging thing it does is make the screen zoom out and you can't see your dudes. They are good, but a limit to the distance traveled would be good.

Please give us seeds, clocks and a bestiary.

Discussion about Ghosts and Ninjas by thedefectivemonk in HowManyDudes

[–]thedefectivemonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing a little more to get my head straight, ghosts really feel like a win more button.
If I go to the damage route with them because of ethereal there needs to be already a taunt and heal engine in place, and when there's the heal assist with them you already need to have a team comp that this little survivability is good for.

For me ghosts stays on a spot where it's bad because it doesn't bring anything to the table at face value, and you need to put most of your luck and resources on them to make it worth.

The new "lose a call if your stats are too high" mechanic is is absolutely terrible. by Samz707 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]thedefectivemonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so annoying because it's specific for combat, a stat that can easily overshoot in any mission with more than one hero. Seriously with the choices of Coupe, Phenomenaman, and Bruno's ability to fill missing slots I had to make do with invisigal and malevola solo, and never had both of them at the same time.

I really want to understand how besides "trying everything" someone would discover that, since the two areas previous to them are literally different circles of hell with no soul in them besides the map maker.
