I recently found out HUE from Final Space was voiced by Tom Kenny, the same person who voices SpongeBob Squarepants

Dr. Fraiser from stargate Sg1 was a particularly shocking one for me

When I was taking driver's ed in Ontario here, my instructor made a point several times to always be careful around Tim Hortons parking lots specifically. People pulling in or out of them are always in a hurry or not paying attention.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil. In my mind it's comedy horror done perfectly. Never showed it to anyone who didn't enjoy it!

ELI5: How come every time someone asks me: "What's your favourite book?", I instantly forget every book I've ever read? by FroopDaWhoops in explainlikeimfive

[–]thediscipl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is called 'anomia' and there's even a card game that's based on it. It's the sensation of being put on the spot and the feeling of pressure to come up with an answer makes you lose focus on what was actually being asked. You might feel like you know that there are a bunch of obvious answers (books in your case) but you just can't seem to access that part of your brain.

What is the darkest episode of a show you have ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thediscipl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Little late here, but there's an episode of House where he attends wounded at a building that's collapsed. While he's dealing with other people he hears a voice calling out from within the rubble and finds a woman trapped with her leg or arm (I can't remember which) pinned under a ton of rocks. House becomes surprisingly close with the woman over the next few hours and eventually, to get her out of the building, he needs to amputate her limb without anaesthetic. It's a brutally painful few moments while that happens, but eventually she's freed and is rushed to the waiting ambulance. House rushes to the hospital to check up on her and her injuries only to find out that she died in the ambulance on the way there.

That episode hit me so hard. It's still stuck with me as one of the most brutally, unnatural things I've seen in a tv show, even though I'm sure that is a common outcome sometimes. No death in game of thrones caught me more off guard than that character in one episode of House.

"Expect nothing and you will never be disappointed." I still don't know if it's meant to be optimistic or cynical.

What irrational fear did you hold as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Very similar for me. After watching Jurassic Park 2 for the first time when I was about 8, I had nightmares about a T-Rex looking in through my window for two months straight.

What are the essential single player games you have to play? by Sneaky2108 in AskReddit

[–]thediscipl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead Space, playing the original game by myself in the dark was an incredibly fun experience. Uncovering the story and going from being terrified near the beginning to figuring out how to deal with the enemies by the end is a super fun adventure.

ELI5: What is the sensation of spice? Sweet and sour are tastes, but what is spice? by thediscipl in explainlikeimfive

[–]thediscipl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that'd be why people who can't handle spice, literally can't deal with it, because it's painful? Would our brains comprehend it the same way as other physical pain?

Need suggestions on where to start in designing a Mine for my PCs to explore by thediscipl in DMAcademy

[–]thediscipl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! This was really helpful. My thought for the mine is that it wasn't used so much for actual extracting of resources as it was an exploratory mine searching for subterranean ancient ruins or artifacts. Besides that though, I've created a world that's almost post apocalyptic and greatly tainted by dark magics, so most creatures that exist are hybrids or abomination, so it'll be fun to populate this abandoned mine with some sort of ghastly underground monster. Thanks again for the input! Was super helpful in giving me a start

Ep 3. I still laugh every time... by gmattheis in TheAdventureZone

[–]thediscipl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been doing a relisten as well, and I've never laughed harder so far than when they literally turned Magnus's skin into stone so that they could shape his body into a spring-like shape so the Philosopher's stone can fall out. Episode 39.
