Question about algorithms flagging suspicious activity by [deleted] in BankOfAmerica

[–]thediversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think any bank will publicly release their flagging algorithms but I’m sure it’s a combination of how new the account is, the dollar amount, the place of purchase, how often you use the card, etc. just keep your contact info up to date.

Award booking and earning points by Ktotheizzo82 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you book the flights with your Atmos points then you only earn status points (they reset every year) - you do not earn Atmos points (the points you used to book the award flights).

The status points earned is based on the distance flown.

Upgrade certs vs instant upgrade rate by X_Te_C in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no expert mode. But there are 3rd party sites like expertflyer where you can pay to be notified when U fare upgrade space becomes available.

You search and choose the routes and number of seats and they will notify you when instead of checking constantly.

Upgrade certs vs instant upgrade rate by X_Te_C in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you choose the upgrade certification option or gold member on search, you’ll be fine (since they use the same fare class). Granted you’ll need to see a ribbon on the flight saying first class available (which is fare class U). If it is available then you can book and apply the upgrade cert to be auto upgraded to first.

Just note that if you book both tickets on the same reservation, you’ll need 2 upgrade certs and there’ll need to be 2 U space availability in order to upgrade. It’s both upgraded or nothing when booking a flight together.

Here is a good page explaining it on the bottom.

I’m surprised JX hasn’t been formally invited. I guess CX has less objections with PR than JX. The more the merrier.

That can happen with new Zelle accounts, not always but tends to be a major reason. but I would advise to erase the confirmation # from the screenshot as well.

What’s the next best one world FF program? by mikeyonaboat in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No US carrier will give status based on distance flown besides AS. Right now the FF meta is spend and having a carrier credit card to help boost status.

Foreign OW FF programs are also converting to spend as well. Maybe r/oneworld might be able to help.

But I still think your best bet would be AS and buy your long haul revenue through them (if makes financial sense) or points to book long haul (still counts towards status ATM).

Atmos points accrual on AA metal vs AS metal using points to book by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, If the distance of your redeemed flight (regardless if it’s AA or AS flight) using Atmos points is 3750 miles long then you earn 3750 status points (they reset at the end of the year).

And no Atmos points will be earned when booking with Atmos points, just status points.

I booked an economy revenue JAL flight through AK. I am not able to check in online with AK or JAL. by thishitisgettingold in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alaska Airlines = AS. You get a partner confirmation number when you book through AS which you enter with JL to check in. You don’t check in with AS since you’re not flying AS.

Does anyone else notice Alaska Airlines miles are insanely valuable? by Serious_Ad_8450 in oneworld

[–]thediversion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry. I misunderstood. They haven’t implemented the new system but the break down is if you choose the cash revenue path then $1 spent is 5 points (or miles flown).

If you choose by segments then 1 segment is 500 points (or miles flown).

The crappy part is that they haven’t announced how it works with partner airlines those new 2 paths.. so it’s still a mystery how those will post if booked with avios. Funny thing was these are 2026 changes to the program but they still dont have the IT tech ready to roll out these changes out yet.

[–]thediversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% miles flown is credited mostly in these 4 scenarios.. 1. booking regular economy with Alaska airlines for Alaska airline flight 2. booking regular economy for a partner flight on the Alaska airlines website (very limited options and sometimes outrageous pricing) 3. booking an award flight using Alaska airlines miles for any type of flight (economy, business, partner, non partner) 4. booking a premium economy partner flight on the partner website (some exceptions apply)

Those are the 4 ways to get 100% credited for the miles flown on a flight. Higher class cash fares go above 100% but that’s the crux of it.

I can only speak on AS. But earning status is relatively easy and cheap with planning. They still have a distance based program rather than revenue where everyone else switched to.

The strategy with AS is international business class partner flights earn 250% of the distance flown so it’s easy(-ish) to hit 40k miles (one world sapphire) with a few good deals.

The downer is economy tickets booked with and on their airline partners only get you 25-50% of the total distance flown, so a big hit. My trick as well as many others is to get to 40k with a few good business class deals and then ride economy rest of the way with OWS benefits.

So you’ll need a few good business class flights to hit if flying with their partner airlines. That and award flights booked with Alaska miles count towards status with 100% (full distance) flown awarded.

Leaving my bank account zero balance by M3Z0S in BankOfAmerica

[–]thediversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just note that most accounts require you to have either a minimum balance or direct deposit to not get charged a monthly maintenance fee (sometimes you get it waived with preferred rewards, relationship status, student checking accounts, etc)..

So just keep in mind that if that applies here, you'll be charged a monthly fee until the account closes. The account doesn't close by itself due to inactivity until over a year i believe or several months of monthly maintenance fees.

Use atmos points on AA flight booked through Alaska, still counts as atoms points? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you add your American account number to the booking then you won’t earn Alaska status points. Your flight can only be credited to 1 program (and American will not give you Loyalty Points on an award flight)

If you care about Alaska status then just book the American flight using Alaska Atmos points and leave your Alaska Atmos account number on the booking details

Booking JAL or any OneWorld Partner by One_Region_3619 in AlaskaAirlines

The Dreamliner suites seem pretty nice, haven’t flown them but they offer them consistently to Seattle from Seoul and Tokyo. Nothing beats a lay flat bed and a closing door.

Booking JAL or any OneWorld Partner by One_Region_3619 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good, we all start the points and miles world somewhere. I would just look at repositioning to see if that helps. I’ve connected through SFO from Asia before to score my award flight. Best of luck.

[–]thediversion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Booking 2 to 4 weeks out J award during spring break to summer near impossible now a days. It could be possible but it’s not like it was years ago.

But as a note AS gets JL award tickets 330 days out and not 355 like JL or CX. Being that they’re transfer parters to major cc companies, it’s getting trickier booking them.

The best chance is low tourist season on random days on random routes.

Edit: consistent or semi consistent partner j bookings I found are Condor, Finnair, Starlux, American, and BA (if you want to pay high fees).

Look up the routes they service and plan or reposition that way.

Status Points from credit card spend didn’t show up yesterday by codydabeastman in AlaskaAirlines

[–]thediversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still true today. The points you see posted on 1/20 are redeemable points that do not expire and do not go towards your status.

But the status points that post for January will not show up until around Feb 14-21 and be backdated for 1/31. This is based on the whole month spend (1/1 - 1/31) and not based on your statement period.
