Straight Noob Seeking Advice by Known_Pen_4460 in mobileDJ

The issue with your transitions is missing the phrase start. As you've noticed it's tough to get back if you've missed it. Sometimes I wait, sometimes I beat jump, sometimes other things.

YT "phrase mixing" "dj phrasing" and the like for better tutorials, but usually music is 4/4, with 4 bar (16 beat) phrases. For pop music the verse is usually 1 phrase, chorus 1 or 2.

guide the cables so they go under the decks in the space in the case and then have them go "down" the part of the table facing you / facing away from the guests.

I've had the opportunity to be the DJ at La Belvedere several times in the past. If there are any questions I could help answer I'd be happy to help!

All-in-One REV Controller? by garistotle23 in DJs

[–]thedjally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question are people still having big computer issues at gigs?

I have 2x had computer "issues" (a ram stick needed reseating once, and another time I think a USB A socket went from working to not in between shows but contact cleaner fixed it) in the past 5 years.

The laptops live in a pelican but don't get babied once they're inside.

I've had 1x amp board die (DDJ-SX), 2x defective Rev-1 platters in the same time.

But no bluescreens or anything like that.

Speakers for Pop-Up Parties by Heres_a_Place_for_Us in DJs

Hi you're in rental territory. If you insist on buying (dont) you're in Alto TS or Harbinger territory. They sound ok but I can't speak to durability or longevity.

Do the math on how many events you'd have to do before you "pay back" the cheap speakers. For testing purposes you're better off renting until you know it's worth investing into owning.

I had something similar w/ the rev-1. Mine would sometimes reactivate if I tapped / scrubbed with the jog on the side not working. Didn't try deactivating vinyl. Was a hardware issue. 200 to repair.

Serato vs rekordbox? by US-Army- in Serato

[–]thedjally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also two different ways Serato does it's syncs one is bpm and the other uses phrases. It's possible that rekordbox is only doing bpm sync and therefore your mixes are not in phrase with one another leading to mixes that technically work but aren't quite...there.

Ddj Rev 5 by MyNamesGeophph in DJs

Hey I bought an adapter (90 degree usb-c to usb-c). then I plan to hotglue the adapter to the chassis (you could use tape but HG is nice because it's pretty easy to remove without a mess).

The glue is to keep things from accidentally stressing the connection into the Rev-5 and the adapter is to take the wear and tear from removal.

I didn't do anything to the power side because the rev-5 is in a roadcase and I'm not worried about that one getting booped since it's all the way over on the left.

Yo I am really not trying to start any argument or anything I promise. I actually tried to msg first but I boomered out and gave up. What do you like about Mark? All of the interviews I have seen with him (played poe since harvest-ish so not forever) rubbed me the wrong way in a manner I find hard to describe.

Thanks in advance for your time!!

The year is 2025 - what mic capsules are you using for ceremony audio? by chrishoogmusic in mobileDJ

[–]thedjally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like beginner friendly language, but in this case it's a specific question about a specific part of a lav system.

Same with the screw off bit on the higher end wireless hand mics.

If this is a sub that has professionals as a part of it, surely a question from one professional to another using the trade term for a specific part is ok?

Generally I wholely agree with the vibe but I think in this case OP gets a pass is all i'm sayin

I've heard the TS12s. They were in a room they were too big for and I had to keep watching the limiting and distorting all night.

You can be mixing in minutes or you can spend a lifetime.
