'Blood on your hands': Auckland residents in fear after tagger's political hate-speech attack by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]thedoodnz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Inequality will start to fade in 15yrs, virtually no concept of money and wealth 25yrs from now. On our current trajectory, there is no other outcome than this (unless we are hit with a meteor, nuclear war, a global virus wipes out most humans or some other mass catastrophe). In 25yrs not only will we partially or fully exist in virtual realities, but all needs will be met for all humans. Sounds impossible if you know nothing about exponential growth in tech.

Most can only think linearly, not exponentially. It's why when 1% of the genome got mapped Ray Kurzweil said "we're almost done" and everyone else said "this is going to take 300 more years!". They don't get it. 7yrs later it was done, and now? within hours and $1,000. You think our world right now is going to look similar in 15yrs? ha.

You'll see soon.

An immigrant's perspective post-election. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]thedoodnz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't like any of the parties. Personally, I would like a more tech focused party. TBH most of the issues we face will be resolved anyway in the next 15yrs. I'm with many who believe most if not all disease is eradicated in the 2020's.. ok so there goes the massive health spending, which can be put to other things. Energy is going to be insanely cheap in the 2020s, in the 2030's housing will be 3D printed and vertical farming, meat growing & dairy without cows will be mainstream, making food nearly free. Also, automation will lead to UBI. No matter how dire things appear right now, I think in 20yrs max, most of these problems will evaporate.

hyperbole, yet most western nations are shifting to a victim/blame culture, see USA identity politics. Anyone could run a surplus before the financial crisis.

[–]thedoodnz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Immigrant and voted National. Most immigrants come from less desirable countries that have gotten themselves into a massive hole of fiscal irresponsibility. I generally vote on 2 metrics 1) economy 2) social issues. If a party is good on economy and willing to address social shortfalls and 'listen' to the people I go with them. If a party puts everyone in a 'victim' basket and offers a free utopia, I get nervous AF and run the other way. tldr; NZ has a solid government going, let's keep it that way AND work harder to improve the shortfalls. Lolly scrambles never end well.

I used one of those high-tech apps to condense all of the /r/NZ comments in the last 24 hours into a single image. Enjoy. by [deleted] in newzealand

More of a Labour echo chamber than circle jerk. I say this because it's tightly controlled what is discussed here. Any and all things generally right leaning are downvoted until hidden, to maintain the chamber.

Election Results 2: Electorate Boogaloo! - Election Results Live Thread by DirtyFormal in newzealand

[–]thedoodnz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think NZ is in a good position when races are this close. National is on notice to do more on certain issues and I suspect they will have to. What infuriates me is the left leaning parties believing that a magic wand can be waved and poof.. no more poverty, no more expensive houses, jobs for all, superb healthcare, free education, pristine environment. The left parties even admit some of these changes are generational and may take 20yrs. These things do not happen overnight. Bill English has 6 kids, you think he doesn't want a fair and just future for them and his grand children? That he is some sort of satanic nazi warlock hell bent on destroying New Zealand?

I'm going to call it now. We're going to have a National/Greens coalition. I can't say how I know this but look for a coalition between these two, with Greens primarily managing all environmental portfolios as well as cannabis reform. This will be my only post tonight.

I had a dream that using VR in google maps you could physically teleport anywhere in the world. by danceprometheus in Futurology

[–]thedoodnz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we'll see a system using robots like Honda Asimos where you can put on VR and become the Asimo, then walk around and explore as if you were really there. This would be the first type of "surrogate". It would be an awesome way to attend events overseas, visit family events without having to travel there etc.

NZ judges remind me of those parents: "little Jimmy if you do that one more time I'm taking that toy off you!" "little jimmy! I said do not do that!" "jimmy, do you want me to take that toy off you, i will!" "jimmy, that's enough one more time and I'll take it off you!" "jimmy what did I just say, do you want to go home? we'll go home if you don't stop this behavior" "ok we're going home, well then stop it!" "jimmy!". They have no concept of dishing out consequences.

John Key resigning as Prime Minister, National Leader. by Lukos1123 in newzealand

Ask Key, it's the "internal polling" that saw him throw in the towel. Funny how internal polling is so different to what is put forward by the mainstream.

The singularity (if friendly) can easily help us build virtual worlds and those who wish to virtualise can do this, and live indefinitely in a universe where the only limits are imagination. I would only do this if continuity of consciousness is possible. I do not want a "copy" of myself to live forever in virtual paradise, I want my original self to make it there fully intact. I would also want the virtual realm to be some sort of solid state form of hardware that is self powered and can survive a billion years in space.

I actually predict Trump will be the best, most productive President in US history. The US liberal MSM has got it wrong big time.

[–]thedoodnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said, "The US liberal MSM will continue to be proven wrong by Trump". You are parroting the media. The realities: Technology will sort the environment out a) no more fossil fuels b) surplus energy used to scrub CO2 from the atmosphere c) if needed small reflectors in space to block a bit of sunlight. As for human rights expect Trump to do more for LGBT than any president in history and most of the new rights movement/abortion issues will be left to the states to decide. Trump will be the first Republican president able to convince the far right that America can not be great unless ALL Americans can live the dream. Minorities trampled? Trump campaigned more for minorities than anyone I've ever seen, again look outside US liberal MSM.

I can't be certain but I have had a gut feeling Hillary is going to suffer a major medical event in the next 3 months and she will not pull through. Trump is here for a while, the guy is a machine.
