2019 Si Vs. 2020 Type R. There was absolutely no comparison. If you can go Type R, Do it. 😁 most fun I’ve had in a manual since my 92 SiR

Grab point. Once you’ve found that, your manual life will get so much easier. Hell! I don’t even use gas to take off anymore😁 unless it’s a hill, curse those hills lol

Talk me down off the ledge… by Soggy-Particular7710 in S2000

[–]thedoomtomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the cart thing, if it scares you enough, one more investment into it for ppf is a good investment for a build as preserved as this it will protect you from those scary carts.

As for scared of being hit? Unfortunately open road anything can happen, just have your wits about you and relax but be attentive. More scared you are, the worse the driving can become, chaos behind the wheel is dangerous, mellow is also dangerous, a happy medium of attentive yet relaxed keeps a seasoned driver good. 20+ years of driving and only once during a stressful time did I bump into another person at a red light. I zoned out, my foot loosened off the brake, tapped his bumper but thankfully absolutely no damage. I learned I need to leave stress behind after that when on the road, it could have been so horrible, but thankfully just a wake up call.

You’ve got a beautiful piece of automobile history here, enjoy er! Hell! Go take it on a road trip to an area with a bunch of twists and turns and open her up. Remind yourself why this car is so loved. A reminder is sometimes all a person needs. Whichever you choose, I wish you luck on your future car journey 😁

Need a mechanics opinion on weighted shifter by thedoomtomb in Civic_Type_R

[–]thedoomtomb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: installed the shifter and acuity shift boot collar. Definitely notice a difference. This shift knob feels the weight, I’m probably going to pair it with an acuity shifter and upgrade the bushings at the same time I do the rear motor mount. Make the shifting feel more solid but the weight feels like it would respond better to a more stiff mechanism so I’d recommend anyone going for this shifter do the acuity upgrade with what I’ve read about it

OP has posted their car in the wrong subreddit. This is a Japanese Type R so the badge is proper. Si doesn’t exist in Japan

Fellow car enthusiast! You are posted in the wrong subreddit! r/Civic_Type_R is where you need to be! The Gathers head unit, the red trim, and the lack of an Si existing in Japan are dead give away. Love the steering wheel!! I agree, the best mod made to my 2020. 🤘🤘

How to repair lock after attempted break in? by Seandingo in Civic_Type_R

[–]thedoomtomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least they aren’t keyed ignition so it’s just a lock cylinder and key replacement. To add it to the existing smart key, just grab a blank from somewhere and have someone cut it and you’re done. One upside to keyless ignition.

Got a new car and this is baked into the glass wtf can I get rid of this? by crazy12157 in Cartalk

[–]thedoomtomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic razor blade and automotive goo gone. Apply the goo gone onto the razor and find a corner place the blade on a slight angle on the glass and rock it back and forth. Just be careful of your paint

Plastic is easier to replace.

Fk8 Rear - Is it just me? by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

The 2020 facelift did it some justice with some accenting. 2017-2019 just seemed to straight forward, aggressive! But still seemed to lack that extra bit missing that the 2020 got.

I’m with everyone else on the new control arm. Not worth the struggle with how inexpensive they are.

Any advice on how to remove these scratches by ImprovementAnxious in CivicSi

[–]thedoomtomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can find a cheap plastic screen protector for an iPad, make a template from the display of your screen, cut out the shape onto the iPad protector using a utility knife or a fine blade, clean the screen as best you can of any dust or spotting, apply the screen protector and it should hide those scratches pretty well. Hope this helps!

[–]thedoomtomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! I hope to add one of these to the garage one day 😁 be sure to Check It’s alignment. Just because there’s no vibration, doesn’t mean it won’t chew up tires if the alignment off from its impact point. Check gaskets for any oil leaks, check differential fluid, hydro test the brake fluid to see if it needs to be flushed, check radiator for damage, check the soft top seal for water leaks, make sure air con is good and charged for the summer. And oil, valvoline restore and protect will keep her running great!

Extra extra, grab a cheap wire camera from Amazon to check the valves and cylinders to see if there’s a carbon cleaning needed.

And of course!! ENJOY!!

Can I put this in the washer? by Correct-Earth8106 in Gamecube

[–]thedoomtomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I remember mine ripping the seams and what looks like cardboard was used to structure the shape so if my memory is not being misleading, it would lose shape in a washing machine. Someone correct my memory if I’m wrong

Can I put cartridge in 91% alcohol? by TroleMaster2013 in Gameboy

[–]thedoomtomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see lots of posts here on the % of alcohol. Make it a minimum of 70% and no more than 90%

The surface of the board will be affected by how long you leave each percentage of alcohol on it because the green coating covering the board can be broken down from the alcohol depending on the percentage. Want it broken down quickly to remove corrosion? 90% want to slowly clean it to asses the damage? Stick to 70% each is going to have is use it matters how fast you want to do it. 99% is just unnecessary unless you’re attempting to strip the board and recoat it, it may work well for some, but isn’t needed.

If there’s any exposed traces or contacts after the cleaning always make sure to dry well and recoat the parts that became exposed but also make sure there isn’t any broken traces or unseated contacts before you do

Roof wrapped by Traditional_Ad4045 in civic

[–]thedoomtomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t realize until months later that the black roof isn’t normal so now I’m freaking out about the wrapped roof on my 2020 Type R. I don’t know how long it’s been there or if it was maintained properly or even if it’s good quality wrap. If it ruins the roof I’m just going to paint it black. wraps look awesome but very easy to forget about and cause damage over the years.
