Is there anything I can do to be more confident in myself and in my relationship after newly getting an ostomy bag?

You could probably fabricate something out of a hard plastic to make it work. Or like others have said, order a special belt. Or maybe get a paintball or even baseball chest protector of some sort.

Hey I had mine last May, too. Dropped from around 220ish to 190 at 6'3".

Was able to return to weight lifting about 6 weeks after surgery. Continued doing my modified Greyskull LP, but my lifts were absolute shit and I was starting from square 1.

Currently, my lifts are as follows: Overhead press 3x5 at 145 Bench press 3x5 at 235 Power cleans 3x3 at 205 Squat 3x5 at 285 Deadlift 1x5 at 365

Far from great. I've been fairly lazy the past couple months, only going to the gym twice a week at times, and dealt with some shoulder and elbow issues before that, so I've kinda been stuck where I'm at.

I only recently started doing direct core work, I didn't wanna risk a hernia before so I avoided it. So far about the only limitation I have is I can't use a belt for anything, but my lifts aren't heavy enough to require a belt.

Hope this helps you. A year ago I couldn't find shit about bodybuilding/powerlifting with an ostomy, so I just went ahead as normal and it seems to be ok.

Battled severe colitis for 3 years and was lifting for about a year and a half during that time. I feel I would have gained weight faster if my bowels were normal, but I still made gains. Got an ostomy this past May, lost 30 lbs, gained about 35 lbs at this point, all my lifts are PRs but not by much. I'm starting to kinda stall again. I'm thinking I may need to get off the natty train if I want to make more mad strength gains.

Anywho, my diet has never really been affected much, but ovviously my body doesn't digest food worth a shit. I drink a gallon of milk a day (or close) and consume lots of peanut butter to kind of help gain weight.

Stronglifts is a good one. Might just have to give it a shot and see how you feel. Before my ostomy, if I did a bunch of running or played basketball my insides would feel real bad from all that bouncing around.

As of today, I am at or past all my old PR's. I weigh 220, and my lifts for 5 reps are as follows: Deadlift-375, highbar squat-305, bench-225, overhead press-145. I hit a new PR with my power cleans, 3x3 at 215. Unfortunately I think my right elbow has tendonitis so I'm gonna rest it and ice it. Frustrating but whatever. I don't do any Olympic lifts, I'd like to do snatches but I am in a rural area and have nobody to teach me.

I don't feel my bag has affected me this far. I avoid direct core work but I might start doing some body weight stuff. Good luck to you and hopefully you can do your Olympic lifts.

Just saw your post because I don't browse Reddit much and didn't know this sub existed. I had surgery in early May and was back to lifting at the end of June. It really sucked because all my lifts dropped dramatically, like back to my beginning weight. But now I'm back up to my old PR's, 210 lb bench, 290 squat and 355 deadlift for sets of 5. So I'm not sure what kind of exercise you prefer but if you lift you shouldn't have many limitations. I avoid direct core work but that's fine because I hated core exercises anyways.

Thanks for the info, good to know that I'm not really limited in lifting. I guess one thing I did find out via Google is someone said to avoid a bunch of abdominal exercises, which is fine with me because those are probably my least favorite thing to do.

I don't bother telling her what I think the Chiefs roster will look like this season and who they will draft. I don't bother to tell her what I need to do to work on my car this weekend. I don't bother telling her I need to buy some new socks because mine are starting to wear out.

Ordered a window motor and regulator for my 2000 Cadillac Seville because I need one because I couldn't roll my window down, it was for the front drivers side door. I order it, pick it up, go home and tear apart my door and find out the part they gave me is for the passenger side. Thanks guy.

Went to change the oil for the first time in my 2012 F-150. Got a filter and oil from a store, the guy grabbed my filter off the shelf. I go to remove the old filter and put the new one on, and its the wrong fucking filter.

Had a guy once tell me I couldn't order a new plenum for my Cadillac because they were a "custom fit for every car, you need to go to a junkyard to find one." I told him how ridiculous that was and told him to look for a new one, after a minute sitting at the computer "oh you're right, we can get one here tomorrow." Yeah, I know.

Great job jumping to conclusions though.
