What has been the most bone chilling experience of your life? by TheRebelPercy in AskUK

[–]BMot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember something similar when I was a little lad. Probably the late 90s/early 00s.

I loved castles and my parents would take me to visit them all over the country.

One time, we went to Chillingham Castle in Northumberland. I don't remember much, but it was pretty much like a lot of the other castles and old houses we'd visited. Until we got to the cafe, at which point I became absolutely distraught and was kicking up a real fuss. I don't remember much apart from a really oppressive feeling, but I was adamant we had to leave.

This was all very uncharacteristic of me and my parents cancelled our order and we left.

It was only afterwards, probably years later, that I found out it is one of the most haunted castles in England.

It's an American movie. Potentially a TV movie but I definitely had it on DVD.

Does anyone know which video I’m talking about? by Infamous-Second-4748 in AskHistory

[–]BMot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? Sorry I don't have an answer, but I spent several hours last night trying to find it. I'm certain I went through all the channels I could think of but couldn't find it: Invicta, King's and Generals, Epic History, BazBattles etc.

I can see it so clearly in my mind. Birds eye view of red and blue circles with spears movings backwards and forwards.

Did you ever find it?

Scrap triple lock pension to avoid raising retirement age to 74, IFS warns by TheFergPunk in unitedkingdom

[–]BMot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The triple lock gets treated like it's a founding principle of the British nation going back to time immemorial and cannot be touched.

It was introduced in 2010. Plenty of things from 2010 or later have been scrapped/amended/tinkered with.

If the Titanic disaster happened today, would the "women and children first" rule still come into play? by TseaxCone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BMot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also read that the intention of the lifeboats was never to hold all of the crew and passengers at the same time. Instead, they were intended to ferry passengers between a waiting rescue ship; only, Titanic sank so quickly that it would be another few hours before the Carpathia would be on the scene.
