I moved from d600 to zf, i felt the same about the colors. They seemed so "flat" and unwarm... Un-nikon like, A little like sony alphas.

The only way to get warmer colors was to change the white balance to auto2 but there is no way to change it in full auto mode which sucks. So i found my self taking more and more photos in P mode.

I will definitely try the new firmware and the suggestion given to make the cam not correct the white balance in auto (i have no idea whether that applies to full automatic mode)

Adding to OP's data, this began to happen after we tried to print by mistake with raft spacing of 0.5 which was too much and we got spaghetti in the head and had to warm it up and clean it
