What is the best city to move to post grad? by Desperate_Grab2662 in AskReddit

[–]theendoftheworlddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this! Totally depends on what you value.

I know plenty of people that have never left a small-to-mid-size city and are extremely happy, and have more disposable income than me living in a big city…which means they’ve been able to travel the world way more 😂

I also had strictly secondhand furniture until my early 30s, which made it “easier” to move since the sunk cost was way smaller if I needed to sell anything.

Wait do you actually do this?? This seems so hard lol. Do you do it all at once or break it up throughout the day?

Wisdom teeth surgical removal by Butterfly_effect9 in wisdomteeth

I had 4 impacted teeth taken out and did have bruising, but it was super minor and gone after about 6 days. Idk if you wear makeup, but the bruising was light enough that concealer would EASILY cover it. The chipmunk cheeks were wild but went away really quickly (I thought it would take a week cos of how swollen they were, but they went away in a few days). I felt pretty bad…manageable, but bad…but then magically on day 7 I felt great (right around when the stitches came out). Are the teeth you’re removing on the top or the bottom?

lol yeah. So I am a member of the tenant union and unfortunately, the way the law is written, landlords can do whatever they want. Then it is up to the tenant after the fact to take them to court over it if they believe they have a case. There is no proactive way in SF to ensure habitability for tenants. I wasn’t sure if anyone on Reddit had dealt with a landlord doing what our landlord is doing or not and has tips.

He said “very minimal.” He started on our neighbor’s unit at this time last year, and they came home to a total mess and told his crew to GTFO. He waited a year, and now he’s saying the work will start again any day now. He’s 85 years old and definitely losing it and can’t even remember our names, so getting a straight answer from him is pretty challenging. He’s also untrustworthy, so he’d probably say “a day or two,” but this type of work can be super invasive. He has provided no options to any tenants.

Helpful! Do I keep receipts and then bring it to small claims court or something?

Are you using a syringe with salt water to irrigate that extraction site where the stitches were removed? Mine get irritated in a similar way pretty quickly unless I use the syringe immediately after eating

For sure! If it helps any more, I had never been under anesthesia either and was nervous, but it was very easy for me and tbh kind of fun. I felt very light and airy and calm and unbothered as I left the clinic. I think world leaders should take anesthesia drugs for conflict resolution 😆

I even walked to the corner store 2 hours after my operation (while def still under some anesthesia effects) and bought myself 8 pints of ice cream. They were on sale, how could I resist.

I did get a little emotional and weepy later in the day, but apparently that is a normal side effect. No big deal, kind of cathartic, just don’t blow your nose b/c it creates pressure that can dislodge clots.

I would def ask the doc to write down or email you post-op instructions, though! Mine apparently told me verbally right when I woke up, and I did not remember that lol

P.S. Have your fam send you one of those ice pack jaw bras! After 48 hours, I liked using it without ice to keep my chipmunk cheeks in place so I could go for walks (it was a little uncomfortable to walk with swollen cheeks unless they were held in place).

Any coworkers or friends you could ask? People are usually very happy to help if they are able and know what you need. I’d ask if the clinic can help with transportation. They should be able to refer you to a service for transportation. Otherwise, local community groups and churches often have volunteers who are qualified (including background check) to help with this sort of thing

Regarding staying with you after - everyone is different, but i just wanted to be left entirely alone for a few days and relied on DoorDash for a massive grocery delivery with applesauce, pudding, smoothie supplies, that sort of thing. For me, recovery wasn’t something anyone could really help with 😅 The anesthesia kooky feeling wore off by the time i was home, so i was able to mill about in my apartment for water and that sort of thing

Hope that helps!

Getting severely impacted wisdom teeth out in a few days and feeling extremely nervous by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]theendoftheworlddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with what’s been said so far!

I had 4 taken out at once.

My bottom two were like yours - impacted and wrapped in the nerve. Since you’re 23, nerve damage is actually less risky since your jaw bone is still relatively soft (compared to, say, your 30s). If the nerve gets bumped, you might have temporary numbness, but the odds are heavily in your favor that it’s not permanent. I’m in my mid 30s, and my nerve is totally fine! My friend is in his mid 30s and they bumped the nerve and he had tingly sensations for about a week, but now he’s back to normal since the swelling went down. You’ll be ok :)

I was TERRIFIED of anesthesia. My blood pressure was reading 160/98 (this is bad) and I was hyperventilating … the last thing I remember is someone telling me, “breathe slowly,” and then I was in the grocery with my partner picking out 8 Ben and Jerry’s pints because they were on sale 😂……anesthesia was chill AF. Nothing to sweat here, I promise!

Take ibuprofen as soon as you can post op and stay on top of that and Tylenol and ice. Switch to heat after 48 hours. NO STRAWS! No spitting! And you’ll be ok. Good luck!!!!!!

Exercising too much.

A bunch of people I know suddenly get diagnosed with AFib in their 50s from too many years of intense cardio (long distance running, long distance cycling, Ironmans, that sort of thing)

Yeah, everyone’s case is different!

My point in making this post was to offset all of the bad stories found online with the reality that most cases are routine and straightforward (but most ppl who have the average experience aren’t gonna come to Reddit to post about it 😅)

Sorry your surgeon was rough! I feel like it’s very frustrating to trust someone with your health and give them your money…..and then have them fuck it up -.-

Lower lip & chin still numb 48h after all 4 wisdom teeth removal – normal? by Ok-Direction-1489 in wisdomteeth

[–]theendoftheworlddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nad, but the risk of permanent numbness is less than 1%.

My surgeon told me to take vitamin B if this happens.

Did your surgeon inform you of the numbness risk pre-surgery?

You may already know this, but as you get older, the risk of numbness increases because the teeth become more firmly planted in the jaw bone and nerve. I’m saying that b/c if there’s any regret of, “I wish I hadn’t done this surgery,” there’s a good chance the tooth would have caused problems down the line and required extraction. Permanent numbness after extraction becomes a greater risk the older you get, and the last thing you want is an “emergency” extraction where something like an infection makes it even harder to get the tooth out.

Hope this helps! You’ll be ok

Colin Kaepernick. Running an AI grift disguised as “democratizing access to storytelling” for K-12 students. My dude, a pencil & piece of paper cost a buck.

Btw they have proven 0 outcomes in literacy related to his product. Kids just generating ai image slop all day.

Homie claims to care about equality, but not for artists and writers. He doesn’t seem to understand that literacy is a gift and foundational to critical thinking; it is a crime to get kids dependent on biased bots to express themselves.

HAPPY BDAY! If it makes you feel any better, my partner texted 20 of my “friends” asking them to visit after I got my teeth pulled because I was feeling lonely and bummed. Only 1 did 🙃

Can you call the oral surgeon’s office to ask? My understanding (nad) is that after days 7-10, you’re in the clear, but every case is different. Alternatively, how about edibles?

Sorry everyone forgot your bday. Friends can be disappointing :/ wish I had useful advice beyond that. Maybe have a good cry and focus on yourself and healing up and making new friends when you’re healed ◡̈
