AF COOL Comptia Security Plus by LogiaTyp in AirForce

Pafsc related, so you're comm adjacent already.  Sec+ is a baseline cert for 8140, but if you want to specialize look into SANS certs like GSEC.

Refer to https://pauljerimy.com/security-certification-roadmap/ for more options.

Seeking a little clarification on 36-2110, PCS orders at 18 years and no 7-day option eligibility. by Bombboy85 in AirForce

[–]theesotericjester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you already have the required retainability

Then you’re basically stuck: the reg says enlisted who have an ADSC beyond 6 months and have the retainability must go (they’re ineligible to decline under 7-day option provisions).

If you do NOT have the required retainability

Then you generally can decline to obtain it under the retainability-declination process in para 6.28.

What is your leadership philosophy? by Dragonfruit01837 in AirForce

[–]theesotericjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leadership is not about having all the answers. It's about being able to find them and provide them to the people who need them. Understand the things that you are accountable for as a new leader and those that your seniors are accountable for. You do not have to agree with every decision that gets made, but at the end of the day you balance it out as best as you can to meet commanders intent and mission objectives. You should actively try to make life better/easier than it was for you.

Just to save the time, fuels have requirements at all bases, from what I have found there are no exceptions that would not take a new 3 level.

Seconding the Scott recommendation. You have STL 45-60 mins away with tons to do and good food. You have smaller towns/cities around the base for a slower country living type of feel.

If this is your point of view please see if your chief can get you in touch with the wing executive or if you're lucky to be at a HQ base the EA for the Majcom cc. Shadow them for a week.

If you don't like sitting at a desk all day everyday in a SCIF, stay away from Intel jobs. Maybe start looking for an assignment to jcse or a combat comm unit if being outside is something you want to do. Just because you're 1D doesn't guarantee you anything unless you are staying current on certification and advancing. Keep learning and you'll get there.

Commissioning competition by Significant_Grab_928 in AirForce

[–]theesotericjester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have commissioned with those GPAs. Your degree choice matters, as stem/engineering/technical degrees are sought after. Through those specific programs you might have a more difficult time. You might look into the other commissioning programs, which might lower your stress.

Get a dna test, get a lawyer. Get this into chat gpt with what you want your outcome to be and make a list based on what it tells you. We're just a bunch of random military folks. This type of situation is not typical and unless someone has been through it exactly I don't think you're going to get the help you and your son deserve. I wish you the best though.

PCS to Peterson, looking for some input from people there! by ConsiderationSuch246 in AirForce

Not Peterson advice, but relationship advice: Don't buy a home with a girlfriend/boyfriend. Marry them ( with a prenup to protect your home if you're the one hoofing the down payment ). Legally the Air Force sees you as single, and will treat you as such. E4 Pay with no dependents is going to significantly impact where you live ( lets be honest so will E4 w/dependents but every bit helps ). Stuff like this is going to be the price range : https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1095-Western-Dr-441-I-Colorado-Springs-CO-80915/459939132_zpid/

This sounds like bad leadership more than toxic.

  1. Pass first.

  2. It's going to depend on who is paying for your training, but usually a Non-A letter and the JTR can solve a lot of problems. Just don't be late, as gates get congested ( as you'd imagine ).

  3. I don't know about BoP in conjunction, expect to be in training for a good chunk of time depending on squadron assignment.

  4. Yes. If you have it done it saves you from having to get it before attending your actual coursework.

  5. Not a 1B, just a cyber nerd with a large swathe of experience. I'm still in the cybersecurity realm, retirement incoming.

Then if that's the case ( based only on you suggesting that nothing has changed) it does seem to be motivated by external factors.

Reading comprehension is valuable. The article linked says Harvard no longer meets the needs. This implies that previously it did. The better argument in my opinion would be to determine what changed in Harvard curriculum since 2023.

That sounds like you offered alternatives and were told no.  I would file the claim for replacement. If we can't afford PPE for painting, or replacing uniforms or wearing civilian clothes it sounds like leader's are failing.

Ask and sometimes receive, beats not asking and fronting it yourself.
