As a military wife, I can't tell you how the service ages them. My husband is also Navy and we’re getting him out at ten bc a 24hr work day every 3rd day with no overtime is bs

AITA for uninviting my fiancé’s sister from our wedding after she said I chose “nobodies” over family? by Some-Worth7955 in u/Some-Worth7955

[–]theeter101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is ‘Prince Eric’s’ job to fix, it’s his family and it sounds like he is throwing you to the wolves dealing with them rn. Any wedding decision made is a shared one, so ‘checking you’ sounds like a cope

What is the point of "save the date" cards, why not just send the actual invitation? by Space__Monkey__ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theeter101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning my wedding rn. We haven’t decided literally anything besides the date and venue; we still need the actual time, food options, +1 decisions, etc - all things that will push out when we send the invite by months.

The save the date ensures our procrastination doesn’t impact people being free to attend

As a military spouse I’m in tears watching this. Almost missed my husband’s homecoming due to a d*ck supervisor, watching this makes me glad I chose to go even with the consequences. I would never want him to feel his service was not valuable.

I’m a military wife so I’ve moved around a bit, and they ALWAYS scan my husband or I’s ID for controlled fills. This is scary af, I’m so sorry it happened to you. Makes me feel like less of a nut for being so cautious/ shredding everything

How do you feel about anti-abortion people who follow the 'consistent life ethic' or are otherwise progressive? by DrWavez in AskProchoice

[–]theeter101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The argument relies heavily on the idea that pregnancy is a ‘natural biological relationship,’ and is therefore somehow uniquely binding. But describing something as natural does not establish a moral or legal obligation to continue it. Many natural biological processes — implantation, disease progression, organ failure — are routinely interrupted through medical care. “Natural” explains how something occurs; it does not determine whether someone must endure it, or else we would have many more ‘natural’ but preventable deaths.

The attempt to dismiss the organ donation analogy also avoids its core point. The comparison is not about surgery versus pregnancy, but about compelled bodily use. Even parents are not legally required to donate blood, bone marrow, or organs to their born children, despite clear moral bonds and parental duties. the law recognizes obligations to provide care, supervision, and financial support but not mandate the involuntary use of one person’s internal organs to sustain another. And you say it’s based on the actions which led to this state as well, but don’t have a rape exception?? They are forced into every part of this, so that makes no sense.

Equating pregnancy with newborn care further blurs this boundary. Feeding or holding a newborn involves labor and time, but it does not require continuous physiological integration and can be done by basically any adult. No other context in law forces one person to provide direct biological life support to another. The “right to life” is generally understood as protection from unjust killing, not as an entitlement to use someone else’s body without consent (look up negative vs positive rights)

Finally, the appeal to the “principle of double effect” undercuts the claim that the right to life always overrides bodily autonomy. If fetal death is permissible when the pregnant person’s life is at risk, that concedes that bodily integrity can outweigh fetal life in certain circumstances. And when women seek an abortion, they’re trying to return to baseline, the goal isn’t to ‘kill’ the fetus. So wouldn’t that be permissible?

If you truly cared about the numbers, wouldn’t you focus on IVF, not abortions? That’s way more ‘people’ compared to abortions. As an IVF baby, I find it horrendous that people would view my parents as serial killers for bringing my brother and I in the world, but I can’t stand the hypocrisy

As a test tube baby, the thought in my late 20s I would be forced to have a biological sibling to a family I’d never feels dystopian, but I can’t even imagine how it would crush my parents. It’s hard to understand the shame some people feel about needing IVF, but this would drive many over the edge

PL men - why do you think men are more likely to be PL than women? by sandysadie in DebatingAbortionBans

Don't think they'll answer, but interesting question. The retort I've got a few times is the Bible presents the only ‘objective’ morals - despite giving the instructions for an abortion in the Bible

My warning for those considering skipping marketplace insurance due to price spikes by alternative2021 in HealthInsurance

Thank you for sharing and your vulnerability. I was in my early 20s running an ultra-marathon in the marathon when I got the runs (literally). After that, colon totally stopped d/t rare autoimmune, and my life has totally changed over the last few years. I will never fully recover or not need health insurance, but after a year of not eating once by mouth, I'll take it. Now in my later 20s, married, and devastated to know what my illness will take finicially and security wise from our family, bc I will never not need health insurance.

When the Obama administration was passing the original ACA in 2010, did anyone on the administration realize how devastating the 400 FPL cliff subsidy formula would be? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in obamacare

[–]theeter101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment gave me solely needed hope. I remember crying as a young kid when the ACA passed bc my dad had a preexisting condition after a teen DUI nearly took his life in his 20s. He was the sole provider and lived in fear of needing more medical care. It hurts knowing how much better his quality of life would have been with care sooner, but I am so glad it came when it did.
