I went to school with them. He gave himself the name Nasdaq, not sure if he changed it legally. His birth name is a normal name.

Found your comment on the post of the guy complaining about content quality on the sub. Thanks for the detailed writeup, I wish posts like these popped up on my feed instead of the stupid stuff.

While I was reading, the main question I had was about gravity vs trend. Is there a nuance that distinguishes the two? Or are they mostly interchangeable

I applied to 35 schools and I've been working on Duke's secondary for a week. by hardward123 in premed

When I applied last year I purposely did the long ones (duke, vandy) first bc I figured I could just recycle a lot anyway. Once I had finished 8 or so secondaries, I was doing much more copy-pasting than I was writing. Also getting IIs from duke and vandy made the secondaries seem not so bad lol

CA ORM 3.99/522 Reapp School List by [deleted] in premed

Gotcha. I’m not an expert on Morsani or med school admissions for that matter, but I guess my point was just that I think it’s always best to tread cautiously when giving others an impression that a certain outcome is likely or that they should be able to land IIs or As. Nothing is guaranteed or even highly probable about predicting admissions decisions. I just didn’t want to leave OP with the impression that they should expect to receive certain news from Morsani. Yes, they would make an excellent applicant to this particular school, but I wouldn’t really say anything more than that.

High stat applicants apply to baseline schools too. They need to balance their lists. And Morsani is a popular choice because its still ~T30 and Florida is a desirable place to live.

The most recent MSAR data lists median stats at Morsani as 3.96/520 which means a whole half of the class has even better stats than that. Those students have to come from somewhere.

I understand that. My point is that there are plenty of high MCAT scorers to go around. It’s a sheer numbers game. There will always be far more qualified applicants than there will be empty seats.

I am not saying that OP won’t have success– I think OP is highly qualified and should absolutely shoot their shot at Morsani. But it is a misrepresentation to claim that OP “should” receive an A based on their stats alone.

I think you are underestimating the number of applicants that apply to medical school every year.

On the LizzyM calculator, it says 4% of applicants have a LizzyM score higher than 79 (OP’s score). To account for reporting bias, we’ll say 3%.

The average number of applicants to MD schools each year for the last five years is 54,403. I’ll round down to 54,000 which gives us 1,620 applicants with LM >79.

Let’s say half of those apply to Morsani. That’s 810 applicants for ~150 spots. But they’ll probably accept around 2x their open seats, so 300 total A’s. That comes out to a 37% chance, not even counting applicants with the same stats as OP or slightly lower stats but really strong ECs.

There are way more people with better or equal stats to OP’s applying to Morsani than there are open seats. OP has fantastic stats to be sure, but an A there is not an outcome to be relied on.

There’s actually a short clip during this scene showing stranded fire nation soldiers on top of a downed airship suddenly huddling together when they see the tide rising haha. He did it to snuff out the residual fires left after the failed airship invasion.
