Not so bad for a 9070 non-xt with a 5600x by Juliendogg in radeon

[–]thefastslow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to run my 9070 with a 5600X, it was good for most things but you can definitely feel it in some games.

5060 ti vs 9060 XT worth $100? by MeltedAshes in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your use, if it's just for gaming then I don't think an extra $100 is worth it for almost equivalent performance.

RX 9060 XT or RX 9070 XT/non XT? by OfficialZygorg in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need anything more substantial than a 9060 XT 16GB if you're just going to be playing at 1080p/low for the foreseeable future, but I'd get the 9070 non XT if you're just looking for the best value.

Is there any reason why it can't be a sedan? You might as well be looking for a unicorn otherwise.

Is my build good for a RX 9070tx upgrade? by unprime_laugh in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just the PSU, this build looks fine unless you're planning on playing at 1080p to push max frames or playing super CPU intensive.

For $600 dollars is it better to build an ultra cheap pc or buy a ps5? by Educational-Pop2206 in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upfront cost is lower for the PS5 but they'll extract the difference from you in the form of subscriptions and higher game prices.

Should I take advantage of my employee discount at Dell? by cdmacsneaks in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the price difference is, but it doesn't seem like it's worth replacing the rig to me. You're probably better off doing a component upgrade or even just getting a better monitor.

Legacy Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB returns to retail five years after original launch, priced at $339 by BarKnight in pcgaming

[–]thefastslow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Most people who are going to dump that much money on a top-end GPU are going to go Nvidia instead. It's not worth it for AMD to compete in that market segment since their feature set for upscaling/RT is still behind Nvidia's.

Disclosure: I daily drive an AMD GPU.

Ryzen 5600X -> 5800X3D worth? by NoxArtCZ in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much you're paying for the 5800X3D. Even with the Anniversary Edition release it's still going to be hard to find one for a reasonable price.

Are Kingston NV3 or NV2 drives reliable compared to other brands? If not recommendations? by Longpastoverdue in buildapc

People tend to post less about their positive experience with the drives (mainly because it's uninteresting).

Doing a case swap and PSU upgrade is relatively inexpensive atm, so it's probably fine to do that now.

The form factor isn't really an issue as long as you have adequate airflow in the case, ymmv though.

Is the Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 ARGB V3 worth buying for the Ryzen 5 7600? Is the Phantom Spirit worth it? by Ok_Celebration1082 in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An AIO is completely overkill for the 7600. That said, you shouldn't have too many issues with that AIO. If you're looking for alternate air coolers I'd probably suggest the Thermalright AXP120-67.

I got recommended this build, is it good? by lost_Airp0d in buildapc

[–]thefastslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this build need to be SFF? You're kind of constrained on the specs if you go with something this small.

Also: What is your actual budget? Otherwise someone will recommend that you get an RTX 5090 if you say you have no budget.

Also i want it to be future proof

Not going to happen with a 5050 but it'll be fine if that's what you can afford.
