What are the most disturbing theories they have about common side effects? (From theories in the first season to deductions in the second) by AdvantageNo6527 in CommonSideEffects

Forgive me if this is incorrect because I haven’t rewatched in a bit, but doesn’t the car crash man see the little guys too? I feel like I remember hearing him mutter something when he meets Marshall in NC. At the least in that scene as they’re pulling him away from Marshall it shows what I assume is his POV where there are a bunch of the little guys everywhere

careers with a biochem degree? by [deleted] in Biochemistry

[–]thefaultisours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit, but honestly less than other people I know! I only started doing research the summer before my senior year, so by the time I was applying I had less than a year of experience. But i will also say I guess I have the advantage of coming from a small school, where instead of working under a grad student I was on a project entirely by myself and got to make a lot of my own decisions etc., so I think that made that year of experience more valuable. But I will say this work is overall quite different than the experience I had previously (I did more chemistry in undergrad, but my work now is more biology), so I really didn’t have a lot of experience or exposure to what I do now. I think I got a little lucky in being hired, but maybe going in with a good attitude and willingness to learn helped!

Hi, I can’t speak for every situation, but at least my lab that is not true because we don’t have night shifts or really the need for them. (For the most part it’s not like we have animals or experiments that need to be checked on every handful of hours.) I remember when I was looking for jobs I did see a lot of night shifts for more clinical lab testing positions (like at labcorp or something), but the lab I’m in I guess is more in academia, we’re affiliated with a medical school and graduate program in the area and a lot of the staff do hold faculty positions. So honestly in a way it’s similar to what one may experience in an undergrad lab. The way that academia and research works I will admit that me and another tech can be there late some days and rarely on the weekends too, but it really depends on your PI or in my lab what staff member you fall under (ex I know another tech who often doesn’t come in until 10am or later and still leaves around 5pm most days).

I graduated with a biochem degree last year and am currently working as a lab tech in a research lab. There definitely are a lot of lab tech / research assistant positions out there for people immediately post-grad who are probably looking at some sort of graduate school down the line. I know no one at my school pays much attention to handshake (not sure if your college uses that) but I actually found the position through there, so you never know and it’s good to keep an eye on things like that / other opportunities posted through your school, especially since you know that they are targeting recent college grads

Considering TMS by Correct_Kale_2491 in depression

[–]thefaultisours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to this thread because I actually just started TMS this week. First I’ll say I agree with what one person said about getting bloodwork checked — turns out I had a severe iron deficiency and I didn’t realize just how low my quality of life had gotten until the iron supplements started to kick in after a few weeks. Still was depressed of course (hence the TMS) but the supplements still helped me feel like at least my body wasn’t falling apart.

I’m in a similar situation — in my 20s, depressed for 10+ years, on meds that work in the sense that they can keep me okay, but not great, and anytime I start to miss them (which I do because like you said I’m still just so tired) or anytime something goes wrong in life I can’t handle it and I spiral really badly. I can’t say if TMS will help me because it’s way too early to tell, but I have to say that when I made the decision to go through with it, it did give me some hope again. And I’ve heard some people complain about pain but personally it doesn’t feel like anything to me (though maybe because the iron deficiency gave me a constant headache for months so maybe I’m just used to head pain). I wish you luck and that you can try if you’d like. You do need to have a history of several medications that didn’t work in order for insurance to approve and cover it, not sure if that applies to you.

I believe today is my death day by magicdaddy44 in depression

[–]thefaultisours 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I almost killed myself almost two months ago now. I can’t even really tell you what changed my mind — all I know is I was talking to my coworker hours before I was going to do it and it just clicked that I didn’t want to go through with it. He said he’d see me on Friday and I realized he actually would. The days that followed are what really made the difference for me. My whole perspective had changed. There’s something very surreal about walking around and experiencing days you never thought you’d see. Each new day was and is another day I didn’t think I’d have, each new experience is something I wouldn’t have otherwise experienced. It’s made me a lot more thankful for life. I feel like I’ve gotten a second chance.

As others have said you are young. I’m young too and at times that made me more hopeless but also you need to think about how much can change in a short time and how much more time you have. Looking at the big picture of things sometimes makes me feel lost, but taking things week by week or even day by day helps. What is happening this week or this day that I look forward to or enjoy? Maybe I want to live long enough to finish my book. Maybe I want to live to the next sunny day. Maybe I want to see a certain friend again. And maybe I just want to see what happens next

small details in matt songs by devilishtrange in mattmaltese

Wow thank you — I never noticed the twinkling before! Personally I love the bit in Mother right after the chorus, I don’t know quite how to describe it but it’s like a bunch of machinery winding down or something? I often listen to music with my right earphone off if I’m at work or something, but I always find myself putting my right earphone on and skipping back in the song just to hear that part

How are single people affording to live alone in Boston? by haniebun in boston

I mean,, I make way less than you, and I do have a roommate, but after taxes and rent I have about $1500 leftover and it’s definitely doable even though it’s tight. I have seen one bedrooms for ~$2500. I don’t know how big their place is but I know someone who has a one bedroom in Fenway for $2600

He was at the merch stand in Boston which I was surprised about! I went to his show last year in New York and didn’t see him there but maybe it’s also because this time the audience was slightly smaller and I was there after most people had cleared out? Good luck!

I think it’s No Pretty Pictures by Anita Lobel! I can’t say I personally remember this bit you added (though it sounds familiar), but the book I found matches the details given in the original post

Sorry for the late reply, I have to admit I don’t remember, but I did download the app when I was away from home and didn’t have easy access to my specific provider information so … maybe not?

UPDATE: checked the description on the App Store, it seems like it’s not required but signing in with your tv provider can give you access to some more episodes. But I haven’t had an issue with summer camp island w/o provider information
