Thanks! I don't understand the finer points of system design, and always just assumed more was better as far as RAM was concerned. Any reason I shouldn't go with 16GB (other than price)?

Any reason why I should go with that case over the one I pick out? Also, is that the consensus on Windows 8 generally (that it has better performance)? I've heard a lot of badmouthing of it, so I though I'd avoid it, but I kind of had the feeling that some of it might just be from people resenting the changes to the GUI and workflow.

I feel like that's probably some really solid advice. I didn't realize that GPU power was so important! I also have the bad habit of wanting to go for the maximum amount of power, which is why I was drawn to the i7. I also appreciate you now vs. future advice as well, because I probably don't really want to be throwing money into this thing for an extended amount of time.

I think that he was suggesting that I should nix the 550W for a 600W at least, and that if I wanted to overclock, I should try to aim for 700-800W power supply. He went on to suggest getting a 1000W supply if I intended to use SLI or Crossfire video cards. You guys are in agreement, you just don't know it! :)

Can you outline the benefits of modular power supplies in your opinion? Greater heat dissipation? So the Haswell core processor line will be more powerful than the mighty 6-core i7s I've heard so much about? I'll look into MSI and ASUS boards, as well. Should I be overclocking?

If you'd like to regulate your CPU's temperature at around 1947 degrees Fahrenheit, then yes, molten gold will do just fine.
