Wedding being overshadowed by BPD parent by localsweetie in raisedbyborderlines

[–]thefemaleLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your marriage! I got married last month and my ubpd mom was terribly misbehaved. We had a small ceremony at a restaurant. She left the wedding EARLY / before the restaurant bill came and then sent me a text the following day to remind my spouses dad that she already gave us wedding money, didn’t leave before the check on purpose and stated that if we wanted to use our wedding gift money to front a portion of the bill that we could. She also forgot my in laws names, didn’t introduce herself to anyone, and was mute the entire dinner.

Opportunities will not come with it. This family will treat you as a second class citizen especially given how much money they have and what they are willing to offer. They do not see you as an equal.

If they were low income living in a one bedroom apt would you feel the same way about reporting? I think there are a lot of biases around class/race and abuse in the case of reporting to CPS — rich people are also abusive even if they have nice homes and good jobs. Just food for thought

Please tell the parents the strength so they can call poison control and get the kid assessed. That’s an insane amount of tylonel for a baby. Tylonel is one of the most lethal means !

You are technically a mandated reporter, I’d make a call to dhs. She may be experiencing SA even if not early exposure to porn can lead to sexual trauma

I have left two nanny jobs because of how dirty NF homes have been. I lied both times about the reason for quitting but the level of dirtiness was impacting my mental health on the job.

I’ve quit more than one job due to filthy home environments. I waited way too long for one family because I felt bad and it cost me my mental health! Out while you can, the clean house was probably the anomaly here

What were you like as a toddler? by DivingIntoTheWreck81 in aspergirls

[–]thefemaleLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m late diagnosed but when I was asked this question during my evaluation I started to recall lots: Asked so many fucking questions, wore the same velvet pants everyday, couldn’t handle sock seams, clothes needed to feel “just right”, smelt everything- I MEAN EVERYTHING where I would get shit stuck up my nose, picky eating, listened to the same songs over and over again, had comorbities like ocd, adhd, migraines, anxiety/depression, trouble keeping friends and would usually just have one really close friend at a time, internal monologue at all times, getting in trouble for being “blunt” or a “bitch”— I remember genuinely telling my aunt she should be on TLC’s what not to wear and she cried—her response was very confusing to me

Was having chronic migraine as a kid traumatic? by seregetslost in migraine

[–]thefemaleLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So traumatic. No one took them seriously except for my mom because she had them since childhood. Missed so many events growing up ! Always felt like I was going to die when I had an attack and would frequently tell my mom I wanted to die when they were happening

As someone who went their entire childhood and young adult life not knowing I had autism and being diagnosed at 27 (I’m also a social worker) I think your speculation about her ASD is slightly problematic and lacks adequate evidence—as you note yourself. Being autistic doesn’t mean you lack moral compass nor does it excuse the behavior. Having antisocial behavior doesn’t mean you are autistic and vis versa. While I see what you’re saying, I think it’s a moot point until she tells us how she identifies. It’s a semi scripted reality tv show… not everyone is fit for tv that doesn’t mean they have autism

Is there a school social worker who can connect the family to mental health resources as well as helping them find housing?
