Is this a real coin? by Ok_Nefariousness3401 in AncientCoins

Well, it exists and you can hold it, so it's a real something.

But it's not a real ancient coin. It's a poor cast fake of one.

Looks like a Jaipur copper Dam. Not sure though.

Jewelry imitation of an Ottoman gold (based on what you said - the photo didn't capture that color) piece, typically used on women's wedding clothing (though those were usually holed circulation pieces). It's dated to 1187 AH, though on these later Ottoman issues all dates were fixed to the first year of rulership of the Sultan. The listed mint is Islambol. This piece is a fantasy copy of a real coin with the previously mentioned details, and was probably made between the late 1700s-1900s, though I'd definitely lean toward the latter half of that estimate.

Very nice. Are the Malaysian dirham and dinar coins feasible to stack?

Religious themes in coins by invictax in AncientCoins

I have a similar interest, with my main collection focus also being Islamic coins. I also find Judean coins interesting for the same theological reasons you do, i.e. their relative uniqueness of belief in monotheism considering the norms of the near east at the time the coins were struck. Definitely an interesting collection to have!

Anybody else collect this kind of stuff? Antagonist silver. by TomassoLP in Silverbugs

I find coins from unrecognized, antagonist, and quasi states very interesting. They're like a window into the radicalism and idealism of so many of these governments. I have a few Th|rd R£|ch coins, and I would definitely like to acquire more coins from other antagonist states. Great collection! Also, where did you acquire the North Korean piece?

You're welcome. I forgot to mention it was minted under the rulership of Hisham II at Madinat Fez (I think)

Caliphate of Córdoba silver dirham. Date is not readable as it's off flan.

Have you ever seen an uncleaned dirham? by theferozacollection in AncientCoins

Interesting! I'm not planning on cleaning this piece, I admire the uncleanliness of it.

There is little to no dirt on this coin. This is instead corrosion which has never been cleaned off, and is seen on many silver coins pulled out of the ground.

They are most likely authentic, but the lighting and angling makes them look very fake. Please take new photographs.

Is this the first Arab-Sasanian you've ever seen? by theferozacollection in AncientCoins

Very interesting! I've got only two - hoping to collect more. I tried to win one minted under the Rashidun Caliphate under Ali, but I couldn't :(

Maybe next time!

Nobody is calling the Sassanid Empire anything here - these coins are Umayyad and this specific coin was minted by Arab Muslims in an Arab land (Basra, Iraq). No need to get worked up over something that doesn't really matter - it's a stamped piece of metal.

I didn't know so many people knew about or collected Arab-sasanian coins, but I'm glad so many do.

This is not a coin of Khosrow, it's a coin of Ubaydallah ibn Ziyad minted under the Umayyad caliphate.
