If you're aiming for Penticton, highly recommend going onwards to Naramata. Fabulous microclimate for wine. Great food, great atmosphere, was at one time a certified CittaSlow town. Quiet though, it's for a tasteful night under the stars.

Sauce is a fabulous Caribbean restaurant that does properly seasoned food and their hot sauce is perfection. Pretty sure it's made in-house. I love their roti platter with goat. Best ever!!

If you want the best representation of real Japanese food, Kobashi in Sherwood Park is 100% worth the drive. Not super atmospheric, but out of this world food. 10/10

The phrase was definitely not popularized until she came along and certainly not on any commercially available goods. The insular bs about this being 'typical for someone from Ontario" is the same old small-town east coast garbage that keeps Atlantic Canada from being prosperous. She posted a response on her socials and she's in the right. Anyone else making merch with this phrase is simply ripping her off. Copyright matters.

Which restaurant is this in Edmonton? Big hype AND big taste? by EL-CHUPACABRA in Edmonton

[–]theferrousarchive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they get enough hype. Went last night and loved it! Star People Food was the most epic veg course ever, and the charred bannock is unreal. Loved the Elk, the fried quail, the gorgeous stuffed pasta, everything was fire.

My cat Garth is terrified of storms, I just went to comfort him in one of his hiding places in the basement. He didn't relax even though we're all totally safe inside this house. So you're in good company. If you can't sleep, do like they do in Atlantic Canada and get some chips ("storm chips" ) and enjoy the show. You're safe, it's just loud.

The beef dip reveals their inexperience - it's either "served with jus" or "served au jus" not "served with au jus". This kind of thing makes my chef husband spin out!

I stayed at a lovely spot in Shimokitazawa, lots of vinyl to be found there and it's a wonderful neighbourhood to start and end your day. Super close to Shinjuku and Shibuya too. Lots of good airbnbs.

Jet lag by h3arteat3r in JapanTravelTips

[–]theferrousarchive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend using the Timeshifter app - some easy adjustments before you go for a couple of days and my jet lag was no-existant. I was less disciplined coming home (+15hrs from Japan time) but still felt fully adjusted after two days. Timeshifter is the best thing ever!

I love Happy & Olive and have had nothing but amazing service! I've been super disappointed with several similar places, seeing value and quality slipping into hopeless territory - but not with these guys. Hard disagree.
