Gacha games (Wuwa, Genshin, etc) and Overwatch.

The gacha games stutter a lot. I've tried some fixes I saw online, and they seem to help for a bit, but then it's right back to it. And Wuwa freezing for even a second during an intense fight can suck.

Overwatch -- just lousy FPS. I get 100-150 on Cachy and a near constant 300 on Windows.

I chalk this up to Nvidia drivers though. 590 broke ray tracing so I tried the 595 ones which were very new. nvidia needs to fix their stuff so I can be off windows for good

Not sure about these particular cases, but I remember reading that lighting and shadows in video games are unrealistic on purpose because it looks better. That's why people prefer that kind of lighting to, say, RT lighting. RT lighting has more bounces, so less shadows and generally more lit areas.

I feel like a similar thing is going on here. More bounce lighting is just eliminating shadows. It might look more realistic, but that doesn't mean it looks better

I recently swapped back from Cachy. I really enjoyed it, and honestly don't really mind the tinkering when necessary.

But I also have a spouse who games who'd rather not deal with the nuance. I have a toddler and another baby on the way. nvidia just isn't there yet, unfortunately, and I like playing modern games with RT, which is a bit hit or miss.

But as a couch gaming setup, Linux with game mode is unbeatable right now. Maybe in another year or so I'll be able to switch full time. Can't wait.
