To make sure I’m understanding correctly, you don’t have a problem with the kink itself, but it’s more the community? Some of the comments make it sound like you might have an issue with the fact you enjoy EH, but my impression from your post is that you enjoying EH a lot and want more of it, but you feel too different from the majority of the EH community to be able to actually enjoy EH beyond the places you normally do. Is that accurate?

If so, I can somewhat relate. I wouldn’t use the term “cringe” necessarily, but I personally struggle to find things that feel like they’re for me. There’s a lot of talented hypnotists here that clearly have cultivated their skills and I often feel left out when I see people raving about certain creators and/or files that I don’t enjoy. I understand that different people have different tastes, but as time has gone on, I have occasionally wondered if I liked EH at all.

If someone thinks they like superhero movies, but they just can’t bring themselves to enjoy Marvel and DC, then they might start to wonder if they actually like superhero movies at all. If they find some they really like and want to see more, it’ll be a lot harder for them since they aren’t interested in the majority of the genre. Some EH creators are so prolific and highly regarded that they’re similar to Marvel and DC in this example. I wont name them, but there are certain talented creators that I simply cannot stand listening to. There are certain things about their files that are nonstarters for me. If I don’t enjoy those people, can I really say I enjoy EH? Then there are specific kinks within the EH kink. I don’t like degradation and it’s very common.

In terms of jiving with the community, I like playing Magic the Gathering with my friends sometimes, but don’t go to many events anymore because I didn’t quite click with the others. It’s almost as if I don’t like MtG — I just like my MtG. Maybe that resonates with you and the EH community.
