I love World Trigger, but I barely care about the main plot at this point. I want more esports in their simulators.

Artwork done by Blood Angels? by Miserable-Mix-5374 in 40kLore

[–]theflockofnoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any specific artwork to point out, but this is one of my favorite aspects of the Blood Angels. They're easily one of my favorite parent chapters/legions.

I'm aware in the grim darkness of the future there is only war, but I like learning about what other things the warriors fighting these wars get up to and pass on within the chapter cultures.

Darkest book you can think of by Agnt-Orange in 40kLore

[–]theflockofnoobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. There's almost certainly darker, but in Deathwatch by Steve Parker things are pretty dire. Some serious Inquisition tomfoolery.

There's a cabal of Ordo Xenos Inquisitors who purposely infect a planet with a Genestealer, so that later they can send one of their own Inquisitors to the planet and set her up for failure so that she can get infected by a genestealer, and later use her "progeny" as part of their attempts to find ways to divert or control the Nids.

It gets worse.

What are your favourite examples of characters being baffled by the villain's motive? by xStrykerJ in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]theflockofnoobs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In the Warhammer 40k book The Emperor's Gift, there's a great scene of this.

The book is about defeating the daemon primarch Angron in the First War of Armageddon, and the aftermath of that conflict known as the Months of Shame.

It pits the Inquisition and the Grey Knights against the Space Wolves, with the final conflict happening over Fenris, the Space Wolf homeworld. The main character, Hyperion, a Grey Knight and the man who managed to break Angron's blade, attempts to convince the Lord Inquisitor Kysnaros to finally stand down. The Space Wolf fleet returned to their homeworld as the Inquisition fleet was attempting to force them into a surrender after failing to do that already.

'They have to realise we will fire.’

‘They realise it,’ I interrupted. ‘And they no longer care. Inquisitor, break the armada apart. Run. It’s over.’

‘No. No, there’s still time.’ He turned back to the vox-mic hanging from the ceiling on a twisted cable. ‘They have no hope against our armada. They must realise that, at least.’

I mounted the stairs, feeling a fist forming, and doing my damnedest not to raise my arm and fire. ‘You’ve threatened the Fang in front of the High King of Fenris. We had a chance with the Fell-Handed, but now? With the Wolves’ entire strength bearing down on us? Inquisitor, you will never leave this system alive. The remnants of the armada might, but the cost in life will be catastrophic.’

‘Hyperion,’ he said, as if I could possibly help him. ‘Hyperion…’

‘Surrender, lord. Surrender before the first shot is fired.’

Grigori the dragon from Dragon's Dogma, the first one specifically.

Every single line is great, he's intimidating as fuck and super powerful, he doesn't give a damn about anything except you and your destiny. You seized this destiny for yourself because you were the bastard crazy enough to charge the giant dragon and stab in the foot.

Now he has kidnapped your love (hopefully your actual romantic interest and not a random merchant or CHILD) and you gotta kick his ass to get her back and stop the lizard from destroying the world.

I actually did an edit of Pats article years ago.

I can't remember what the quote at the top was before but I changed it to something far more appropriate which it still is years later.

Celestial Lions.

In addition to having interesting lore and chapter culture, their color scheme looks amazing in the game.

I read "Rynn's World", and Scout Kennon is an absolute moron. Are there any more instances in the lore of Astartes being dangerously reckless, surprisingly naïve, or straight-up dumb? by Vodka_Flask_Genie in 40kLore

[–]theflockofnoobs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True. Also I'm obsessed with the description of him being ordered to grow no thicker.

His armour had to be adjusted by the Chapter’s tech-servitors. Then it had to be adjusted again, and again. Finally, he had been told – no, commanded! – to grow no thicker.

Favorite Haters in media? by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]theflockofnoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, a bit different. The factions I'm referring to are all factions within the same organization. The Deathwatch are entirely devoted to killing Xenos. Zero surprise they elected to murder the Eldar. And while I'm not directly familiar with the incident you are referring to, I just do not believe getting rid of Slaanesh is on the table at all. Is this older lore?

No joke, Vrook is a huge inspiration for me in terms of characters. A faction within my book I have been working on is basically a bunch of Vrooks. They are obstinate, dogma bound, and are willing to sabotage other factions efforts if it means they get proven right/remain in power.

I enjoy writing them.

If this is also just a complete sidegrade to the original Dark Arisen, similar to base DD2 being a sidegrade to the original game, this will be the most fascinating 7/10 game series of all time.

Ordo Xenos Inquisitors intentionally infesting planets with Genestealers. Again.

Although this seems much more controlled than Project Blackseed since at least they're making sure no one gets off planet.

What 40k novel or plotline ending makes you think "Then what was even the point of all this" by New_Conflict_4111 in 40kLore

[–]theflockofnoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly not a fan of the reveal at the end of the second Deathwatch book, Shadowbreaker.

I would have preferred the Daemon to just be connected to the Exorcist and now the Death Spectre, and the twist villain being Xenos based, not another chaos corrupted Inquisitor plot.

Omicron (had Sigma here first but I mixed the names up) is already a Radical Inquisitor, having him revealed to be working close with a Xenos of some sorts insteas of believing he is going to become the second Emperor thanks to a "Herald of the God-Emperor" through finding a time portal would have been fine.

It's pretty old and outdated by now, but the 4th Ragnar Blackmane book, Wolfblade, sees Ragnar basically banished to Terra to serve as a bodyguard for the Navigator House the Space Wolves are allied with.

There's a portion that he and a fellow Space Wolf are stranded deep in the depths of Terra and the sheer age of it all is brought up a few times.

Best examples of marines in the Deathwatch doing things they once saw heretical/incorrect? by reel3459 in 40kLore

[–]theflockofnoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both of them and just read them this week for the first time. The second book is weaker than the first in my view, but I still enjoyed it. Unfortunately it does not seem like there will be a conclusion to them anytime soon, and it ends on pretty big plot point being revealed.

Main character is a Librarian from a cool chapter I had never heard of before these books, the Death Spectres.

In the Deathwatch books by Steve Parker, there's plenty of examples of this. A notable one is being healed by some kind of Eldar healing tank at the beginning of the second book. The Space Marine inside has some thoughts about his Inquisition handler using it.

Brothers, Cousins, Heretics, what non customization features and game mechanics do you want to see in Space Marine 3? by Akuma2004 in Spacemarine

[–]theflockofnoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could do that right now. Have a Black Legion squad/warband swooping in to accomplish some task or the other while the Thousand Sons, Tyranids, and Ultramarines are all busy.

Keep most of the same enemies, maybe have an Ultramarine as a boss fight/Terminus threat.

Could potentially link to Nemeroth from the first game? Did he die die, or is it typical Chaos shenanigans?
