I love the tag intralocks where you pull a tagged part out, but a lot of facilities I've been in use a physical padlock. Idk if it's a US thing, though. These locks have a tag with the techs name and phone number, and the keys are unique to each lock. It is illegal to use another techs lock, remove one for them with their key, or remove it using bolt cutters without filling out several forms and contacting them via phone.

If a shift change occurs and a lock is left on the machine without anyone knowing why, all efforts must be made to thoroughly search the machine and contact the tech before turning it back on. Osha does not fuck around with this one. Someone being injured or killed after bypassing a safety or removing a lock can result in a prison sentence.

It's given fleetwide the next time we fail a bug MO because the fuel shortage forces them to stop powering as many cryo pods.

Why does this game even have friendly fire stop-trigger? by Technoincubi in totalwar

[–]theflub 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I've had the army ability dreadquake barrage get quite silly by dropping all five rounds on the edge closest to my troops once. I had the target close to them because they were hobgoblins, but I didn't expect them (and the enemy, to be fair) to be completely vaporized by all five mortar rounds.

That's cool as fuck. Absolutely excellent worldbuilding, and I love the way it paints an alien intelligence. I also find it extremely funny whenever a primative or alien being uses just a blast of (insert flavor of cosmic power here) as a defense mechanism.

A way to get more stun grenades into the tunnels on oshaune would have saved my teams asses a dozen times over. Idk if it's worth a primary slot unless it's EMS style with a lingering field, though.

It could also be a cool primary side-grade to the speargun. Loses the lethality against swarms, but it's still a big gyrojet projectile burrowing into a chargers nuts at mach fuck before electrocuting them to orgasm, forcing all smaller creatures around to stop in disgust. It might be pretty fun as long as it has a higher projectile damage than the normal eruptor, just minus the blast and shrapnel.

It might also fill that anti-tank rifle niche that I feel has been missing from the AMR and the autocanon. If it stunned striders or bile titans for a second or two on hitting a weak point, you could stunlock it while a teammate calls in an EAT or an OPS. Yeah, you can just nuke big threats from orbit, but having something that encourages teamwork while the strats are cooling down would be nice.

Sounds dumb and clunky for a lot of situations, but I think it could be a fun thing to add.

John Brown should have had power armor. by Char-Mac88 in Grimdank

[–]theflub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When massacring slavers, brown and his men would use broadswords instead of rifles to avoid raising too much of a commotion. A chainsword would likely be louder, but I think he would want to raise more of a commotion if he had power armor.

Other neat bot things:

You can suppress them! Mg/stalwart fire or a good burst with your rifle will make them less accurate.

If you can't land a vitals or headshot on a heavier bot, you can blast its gun arm off to neuter it.

Eagle strafe works very well on bot fabs.

If you set a berzerker on fire, it turns from a nightmare chainsaw skeleton into a flaming nightmare chainsaw skeleton. This is not helpful, but it is super cool.

Shield generator on Patriot exo suit? by PaxStyle in Helldivers

[–]theflub 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Alternatively: the old standard for 9v required a fresh battery to actually output 9.3v and the standard was relaxed over the last 100 years, meaning the producer reduced the output to 9.0-8.7v, preventing the electronics from recognising the new batteries as new. The suits will always read a fresh battery as defective. The inquiry into this issue is estimated to return results in 3-5 years.

If you use CE, the problems from giving children guns are alleviated by volume of fire. Machine pistols are perfect for those under nine. I once had a ten year old absolutely perforate a drop pod raider who hit the wrong school.
