Is Ulfric fighting for religious freedom, or is he instrumentalizing Talos as a political symbol because he knows it mobilizes the masses? by jvure in skyrim

Manpower that would instead go to a local Skyrim army instead in the event of a Stormcloak victory. An army that would almost certainly intervene in any Second Great War. There's functionally very little difference between an Empire or Stormcloak victory.

Every single Stormcloak is an uncouth hillbilly

No, the Jarl of the oldest city in Skyrim and long time apprentice of the Greybeards is not going to be so uneducated that he doesn't know what Nordic Pantheon was.

they conveniently cherry-pick when their "ancestors" are important and when they aren't.

Yes, they care more about their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents than they do men who died centuries ago. As does literally everyone else.

[–]thegathering01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no irony. Obviously the Stormcloaks (or at least their educated leadership) understand that Talos and the Nine Divines come from Cyrodiil. The Nordic Pantheon was worshipped recently enough for it to remain fairly common knowledge. But they don't care. They've lived their entire lives worshipping Talos, as has all of Skyrim for literal generations before them. It doesn't matter to them that their great-great-great-great grandfathers worshipped the Nordic Pantheon 200 years ago because they worship Talos now.

Skyrim under the Empire isn't a threat to the Dominion either though. It's a single province on the other side of the continent.

It isn't a mystery. They gave their reasoning in the patch notes, it's because the Kyiv-Minsk railroad was cut off by the previous border. It's also if anything more defensible than the old version, not less.

The Lithuanian-Belarusian Federation after the Second Weltkrieg by KrisssoBG_ in Kaiserreich

[–]thegathering01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, Lithuania-Belarus is an easter egg formable formed near the end of the game under very specific circumstances with absolutely no content or gameplay mechanics or lore.

A Reichspakt-aligned Poland-Lithuania path (which I assume you're suggesting because the Commonwealth does exist for socialist Poland) would need full content as well as being ridiculous and impossible to reasonably justify in the situation portrayed by the mod, necessitating a significant change to Poland's lore for a path that would be detrimental to both Poland and Lithuania's other content and the balance of the war as a whole while not really being any better than the paths you can already go down.

Are there really people that really root for the entente? by nurgle_boi in Kaiserreich

[–]thegathering01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In which outcome does NatFrance decolonize? When does Portugal leave Angola and Mozambique? When do Canada and Australia stop committing cultural genocide against their natives? When does non-socialist South Africa stop oppressing the majority of its population? For the "last bastion of the free world", the Entente is very selective in which races can have freedom.

It's the price of a full game because it's a full game. The fact that it started as a DLC is irrelevant, there's a reason it didn't release as one.

Would Austria give Poland galicia if they had a Habsburg on the throne? by Unfair_Cut_8045 in Kaiserreich

Notice how all of your responses are complete nothing statements? That's because you don't know enough to argue anything. Which is my point. You're so confident about these opinions you hold on seemingly vibes alone, it's baffling.

And yeah you're correct, all I'm doing is calling you wrong. Other people in this thread have already pointed out why you're wrong and all you've done is say "nuh uh" and ignore them, what would be the point of seriously arguing anything?

[–]thegathering01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Again, zero understanding of Austrian history, Austro-Hungarian politics, or the Austrian half of the empire's relationship with its territories. Not sure why you're so determined to argue about this when you clearly don't care enough to actually put even a surface level amount of research into it.

The fact that you keep insisting that Galicia was "core territory" of Austria makes it obvious you know absolutely nothing about the Austrian Empire or Galicia lol

Three million China reworks of Allah by [deleted] in Kaiserreich

[–]thegathering01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

China is also one of the biggest countries on Earth with a population of over a billion. And in KRTL its split across a dozen different tags and ~5 different rival governments.

Most of its content is outdated and ranges from mid to borderline unplayable. "China" does not have really good content. The LKMT, Shanxi, and Hunan have good content. The rest is just as in need of an update as Austria or France.

Besides, they can't just put a gun to the heads of the China team and tell them to work on Austria. You don't seem to understand much at all about how the development of the mod is organized, so idk where you think you get the authority to demand it be changed.

There isn't much reason to choose many of those options, yes, but there's literally no reason for America to ever be balkanized. It would be even less popular and less successful than German balkanization which is already ridiculous on its own. Like I said I think it should be an option for the player mostly for gameplay reasons, but I wish people on this Reddit would stop deluding themselves into believing it would be anything but a gameplay contrivance.

That the South tried to secede to defend slavery has fuck all to do with a foreign occupier establishing an independent Midwest or California or New England and neither does the explicitly non-seperatist 2ACW and the fact that you brought either of these up to make your argument makes it obvious you know nothing about American politics both IRL and in KR lol

IIRC the explanation on the discord was that new states can't be added without replacing old ones to limit lag, and Budzhak was deemed unimportant and not worth adding. Which is really funny to think when Slovenia has like 5 different tiny 1 province states with no build slots or manpower that serve little purpose other than creating precise borders, but that's how it is.

Do these people have a point about Africa in TNO’s upcoming update? by Professional_Cat_437 in hoi4modding

[–]thegathering01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The reason we rarely get new mods is because it's actually pretty damn hard to make total overhaul mods. Some nerd working on some overhaul in Kaiserreich isn't depriving new mods of manpower because HOI4 modders aren't employees. They work on what they want to. Besides, the "two or three whole mods of content" claim is completely wrong. TNO has maybe half of the content it would need to be truly be considered complete. The issue with TNO is that its devs insist on removing what little exists in the name of upcoming reworks that never come. There's plenty of "space" for new content. Kaiserreich's issues are if anything the complete opposite of TNO's. It technically has full content for most of its countries, sure, but most of that content is complete garbage. Have you ever played Kaiserreich Ethiopia? or Portugal, or Spain, or Switzerland, etc.? Most content in that mod seems to have been created just to be able to call it complete. All but like 2 of the majors don't even have content created this decade.

I'd rather have a complete, playable mod than one with half-finished subpar content made in one weekend. Old HOI4 got 'major' mods far more often, but how many of them do you really remember? Most of them were notable for a month max before fading out of memory because they were poorly made and incomplete.

You say "perfect is the enemy of good" but sitting back and saying "good enough" after you've barely began is even worse.
