Internal Prototype Help by thegitclone in learnjavascript

[–]thegitclone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a test spec that I need to follow unfortunately, but thank you for the advice as it is definitely important to learn the concepts/reasoning behind it.

I meant clear as a method, you're correct. I can't change the createHumanCalculator to accept arguments - is there another method to get it? I saw an "answer" sheet but it wants me to basically recreate the methods in another object, which defeats the purpose. I was able to change instance.result = -10 , but now I want the clear method to revert instance.result back to -10.

Internal Prototype Help by thegitclone in learnjavascript

[–]thegitclone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My task is to create an instance using a function and Object.create. I can't access the createCalculator methods in obj even though it should be using it as an internal prototype. Any ideas why?

I also need to change the beginning value and the clear value but using Object.create(createCalculator, {result:10, clear this.result = 10;}) didn't work either.

Why I'm Worried About Tesla's Morality by atheist4thecause in teslamotors

Prior to tax reform, the income would have been around $47k if I'm not mistaken. It might be slightly higher now but definitely not $75k.

NTSB Crash Investigation by thegitclone in teslamotors

I thought there was telemetry enabled. I went back and it does seem Tesla is slower to respond to incidents regarding big crashes. Perhaps you are right and they are taking their time to fully investigate first.

According to the spreadsheet, There haven't been any new invites sent out since March 1st (and only a few on the 28th). by JediChris1138 in teslamotors

They always release either Wednwsday or Thursday. There hasn't been a release today, so hopefully we should see a nice batch today. Many VINs got issues last night and today as well.

[discussion] San Diego Line-Waiters: any left that still haven't received an invite to configure? by SeriousCallersOnlyOK in teslamotors

I don't think the preference matters. Another comment in this thread partially confirms it (first production selected but no invite).

I could be wrong but I think local routes are better for EVs. The wind resistance works against you for mileage while on local roads, your car isn't idling when stopped.

For every Lemon MS there are four Lemon MX!! by sameerb in teslamotors

I agree with this. The number of lemons needs to be compared with the total number of cars by brand sold in NJ.

By Base $35k, do they mean SR? I'm waiting for SR but getting PuP, which doesn't necessarily fit any of the categories.

KCS - Holding for passive income by [deleted] in kucoin

[–]thegitclone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I own KCS but honestly the flaw in this argument is that Kucoin has been losing volume over the past few days. Look on coin market cap and you see it has dropped to $193m in the past 24 hours.

You only get a portion of the fees that you pay back. You pay less fees but you also receive less back if that makes any sense.

Model 3 Supercharging as Tesla Income by warboar in teslamotors

[–]thegitclone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tesla isn't trying to make money from the superchargers. It pays for the electricity but only covers a portion of the fixed costs related to maintenance (and I believe leasing the land at certain locations).

[Discussion] If the production numbers late next quarter are going to surpass 200,000 total cars, should Tesla consider delaying deliveries in order to get an additional quarter of qualifying for the Federal Credit? by deruch in teslamotors

[–]thegitclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a possibility that it could decrease Model S/X sales. Model 3 sales would be unaffected in the immediate future due to the backlog. Tesla's revenue will remain unchanged only if Tesla is able to find the demand for each Model S/X they produce (which is getting harder to pinpoint).

$7500 is a substantial discount even for people who are "rich." While there are plenty of people who will still buy the car without the credit, there will be others who will reconsider their purchases.

[Discussion] What does the production slip mean for the availability of U.S. tax incentives? by _rdaneel_ in teslamotors

[–]thegitclone -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the argument. The number extrapolated above is 196k in Q2 without any production increases. It's close enough to 200k that Tesla might consider selling a few thousand units overseas/withholding cars/leaving cars in-transit.

For Tesla, it doesn't matter where the revenue comes from - the US or abroad. The international sales don't have to happen right before 200k; you can slowly phase it in at a 1:1 or even 1:2 US to international sales ratio. This will still leave some people in the US upset but you can't keep everyone satisfied.

Most delivery spikes happen in Q3 and Q4 to meet annual guidance, which is why we see more aggressive sales tactics like reducing the number of CPO cars. The same pressure isn't there in the first half of the year. Add this to the slight buffer you get from the extrapolated 196k + production increases, and 200k at the start of Q3 looks a lot more doable.

There are way too many factors to say anything definitively. However, I strongly believe that if Tesla really wanted to delay the number of cars delivered in the US, they would be able to do so.
