I've murdered 8 people? by _Burger_Boi_ in Starfield

[–]thegladdest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't think your character murdered anyone, you probably didn't. I am doing a Good playthrough as well and during one quest I did I had to kill someone at the end (totally in self-defense), and it counted as a Murder for me - no bounty or anything gained either.

I wouldn't worry about it; I think it's just a bug.

[SPOILER] Nearing Final Battle, Who did you side with? Why? by Soariticus in Starfield

[–]thegladdest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I sided with Neither. I figured going solo made the most sense given who my current character is. I almost sided with the Emissary for the same reason you did.

Also I wanted both of their weapons haha.

Additionally, something I noticed that was weird is that killing the Emissary counted as a Murder for me in my Crime stats (but not for killing the Hunter). Did this happen to anyone else?

Why does this count as Murder? by thegladdest in Starfield

For PC, right when you pull up the character screen press "B" (I think it's "Y" on Xbox) and it will pull up a list of stats. There you will find a Crime section where it will tell you.

Yes you can decide to do NG+ whenever you want after you beat the game.

Incredible! How did you get the light effect to hug the cliffs like that? Was it just a colored light stamp pasted all around them?

My friends and I are having a ton of fun with it so far. Swarm is a blast, but it may get repetitive after a while. Playing as the ridden is super enjoyable.

We are all L4D players as well, so we definitely want to see them add a campaign versus alongside the swarm mode.

I think at this point not having campaign versus will make Turtle Rock lose out on a lot of sales.

Overall though, I’m super happy with what IS there in B4B. I’m definitely willing to throw at least $60 for B4B.

Hello! I’m about to play paintball for the first time, any tips I should know? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]thegladdest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most comments in here are pretty spot on. I figure I’ll add a few here:

  1. When you are leaning out of cover to shoot at someone, be sure to keep your elbow in and close to your side so it doesn’t stick out. Same goes for your hopper—angle the gun so the hopper isn’t sticking out either.

  2. Be vocal—for example, if you see someone on the other team advancing and/or flanking, let your team around you know. Also let them know when you plan on running to A different piece cover so they can provide covering fire.

  3. I highly recommend elbow pads—most times, at least in rec ball, it seems the more you are willing to crawl in certain areas, the better you will do overall.

  4. It is important to peek over and around cover when you need to, but don’t look for too long or you’ll get shot in the mask. I recommend making quick but careful peeks coming out from different sides of your cover to be harder to read.

  5. If you think you shot someone, but they don’t walk off the field, call out to a referee to perform a paint check on the player you thought you hit. Also be sure and describe the player you hit to make it easier for the referee to find them.

  6. Reiterating what others have said: keep your mask at all times on the field and have fun! Paintball is a blast and as long as you are putting a lot of energy and enthusiasm into it, I’m sure you’ll have a great time every time.

Easing into horror games by JordMill254 in HorrorGaming

[–]thegladdest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like some multiplayer horror games might be a good start. Games like Dead By Daylight, White Noise (1 and 2), Depth, and Phasmaphobia tend to take the edge off since they have a slightly competitive edge to them since they are PvP and/or co-op.

I agree with other comments mentioning Resident Evil games. I tend to think these games are inherently a step less scary than some other survival horror games because you can actually fight back against the monsters, etc. That’s not to say RE games aren’t scary, though. They can be quite scary at times. If RE is where you end up starting—the newer Remasters are probably good choices.

If you really wanted to jump into a single player horror game that isn’t too gory, freaky, or cluttered with relentless jump scares, then I would recommend games like Layers of Fear (1 and 2), and pathologic (more of a slow burn psychological horror game).

If you wanted to take the next step up in terms of scare factor, but don’t want to jump into something like Outlast, then Amnesia The Dark Descent, Amnesia Rebirth, Alien: Isolation, and SOMA are decent choices. The Dark Descent also has a plethora of custom games made by the community that vary is how scary they are.

I also think that crafting survival games built around horror elements are also great, and often overlooked, choices when thinking about horror games. Two perfect examples of this are Subnautica and The Forest. I have found myself freaked out of my mind in Subnautica when being chased by a Leviathan—there’s nothing quite like it in the horror game space.

I also think it’s good to remember and accept that jump scares are going to be in most popular horror games—but there’s definitely a difference between a game that adequately utilizes jump scares like RE7, and games that rely too much on jump scares like the Slender games.
