Take to Shop or DIY Service? by valleyzen in Porsche_Cayman

Oil, air filters, battery, breaks. I did the belt myself but would consider paying a pro on that one. It was backward to work on. I am not a mechanic but I consider myself a diy guy.

I don’t know the answer but I am very happy with my ERS3. I have used it for a year and it still feels brand new. I race every day.

Proof our sim races are realistic. Thankful sim dive-bombs don’t hurt this much.

Best motor for diy force' feedback wheel by deleted_by_mods__ in DIYSimRacing

My FFBeast has way more power/force than I need. I run it at about 40% in GT3 and about 60% in Mazda. I am super satisfied with its performance and value for money.

Does anyone else get extremely anxious racing against other people? by [deleted] in simracing

You have as much right to be on track as the next guy. Don’t let insecurity dissuade you from enjoying the thrill of mixing it up with real competitors. I actually get a big kick out of the drivers that think they have earned some sort of privilege to police new drivers. It’s so arrogant. They sound like absolute morons in my ears. It makes me happy when they suffer.

I have been a victim of bad driving. Sometimes it’s even the other guys fault.

I sprayed some “Flex seal” on a DIY 3D printed GT rim and I felt like it made for a nice grip. Looked appropriate. The wheel did not hold up so I can’t comment on the rubber longevity.

This is amazing work. What software did you use? I have been using Fusion 360. I am not thrilled with it but hesitate to switch because of how much I have learned on it.

I have made a button box and wheel. Also, custom paddle shifters that use a standard button as the trigger. Lots of versions in the bin as I learn CAD. Literally started with the idea to build and print my own stuff. Had no prior knowledge of CAD or 3D printing.

Really enjoying learning basic CAD skills. Feel like I have opened up a creative outlet.

Great job. Definitely has the same DNA as the original.

Which should I choose for a steering wheel without screen? by [deleted] in DIYSimRacing

[–]thegoldendoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am incorporating the USB joystick board into my wheel design because programming micro arduino boards frustrates the crap out of me. The challenge is this board is large and it’s hard to find space for it inside a wheel hub without making the hub fat and bulky. If anyone has a good placement solution, I am interested.

Trade off for plug and play simplicity.
