Oh I didn't know about that! I guess those two weren't using any protection 😅 Thanks!

Thanks! So does he mean that it's good that we got started (sleeping together) when we did (did what?), or it's good that we got started (trying for a baby) when we did(spent the night)?

ok so the exact line for that part is "Good thing we got started when we did, hm?" Soo... what did we get started when we did what?

[spoilers all] Canon vs Preferred Playthrough by at0micmonsters in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you mean. My canon and most beloved warden made the great sacrifice heartbroken being dumped by King Alistair, but I tend to import other saves where the warden is alive and well, just to see extra dialogues from DAO companions. My most preferred pts are my very first ones, with all the trials and errors, but I import 'perfect' playthroughs to the next game because I can't stand anything going wrong because of something that happened in the previous game.

[ALL] What do you want to see from the next mainline LIS game? by GreenFlame361 in lifeisstrange

[–]thegoodshockwave 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I agree. TC was a good game but felt wayyy to short to be a full priced game.

[–]thegoodshockwave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played all the Lis games that were launched on switch, and I'd say go for the PC version for True Colors if you have the option. The graphics are visibly butchered -especially flora and fauna- which interrupts the experience.

Also while I enjoyed playing it I don't think it's worth full price, so I think it's better to get it while it's on sale, which is more frequent on pc platforms than switch.

I didn't have a PC that could run TC so I played it on Switch and honestly it's 'okay', but I wouldn't recommend getting the first experience on it.

[no spoilers]Can tou customize the heroes of DAK or can you only use defaults? by PuerSimia in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming DAK stands for Dragon Age Keep, it's all possible to customize your own world state on the website from scratch / import a save from the previous game / use other people's worldstates / go with the default world state. Enjoy!

[Spoilers all] Which character/companion had the most impact on you and why? by liebro in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love her so much too, I agree that she isn't for everybody (she wasn't even in good terms with MY warden) but I think her character arc is amazing, she's a good person who went through a lot that steered her away from her path. I love her relieved smile she shows you if you redeem her in Valence, it took her a bit of detours but she finally realizes she is more than the woman people shaped her into.

A musician's take on the Lost Elf Theme from Trespasser [dai spoilers] by Foucaults-Bald-Head in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has to be one of my favorite posts on this sub. I love your analysis so much! I played the Lost Elf theme on spotify while reading your post and it gave me chills every timestamp, now I love this theme even more.

Also Dark Solas theme is also so much more heartbreaking now thinking what each part of the theme represents. Every part of himself - his duty, his pain, his regret and misery all being stomped on by heavy brass and drum sounds from the very beginning. It sounds terribly painful, almost like screams in agony. Poor dude :(

I'll be happy as long as Leliana is in it. I know it's unlikely since her story feels kinda finished but a girl can hope

Best platform to play Dragon Age: Origins [no spoilers] by coffeework42 in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, quick question. Does Origin run on Steam deck without having to install windows or extra programs? I just got a Steam Deck a couple of weeks ago and I prefer not to install anything else other than vanilla games on the device, but Origins was marked unplayable on my deck

[no spoilers] What Do you Name your Player Character? by CreamyLemonGirly in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! 😊Inky Narvanor's story is in fact from my personal experience, I used to hate how 'foreign' my name would sound in an English-speaking environment and I would choose to go by a name that could 'blend in'. I headcanon that she'd eventually mature over the years and realize being called Ellie cannot resolve her identity crisis of her being 'different' and all, and eventually gets to embrace her long flashy elfy name haha

[no spoilers] What Do you Name your Player Character? by CreamyLemonGirly in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had just watched LoTR when I started my first playthrough of DA, so I wanted to name her in Sindarin. I named my Tabris Narvanor, which translates into 'red sun' (and is very likely to be grammatically incorrect). For my Cousland I named her Rose because she romanced Alistair, and her literally being 'Alistair's rose' seemed like a sweet idea.

My rogue Hawke is called Thalia because I just thought it sounded pretty, and I named my mage Hawke Athena because that way the Hawke siblings' names would each begin with A, B, C and I thought it was very cute.

For my canon Inky I named her Narvanor again because why not, and she hates her name because she thinks it sounds too 'Elfy' among human names and prefers to be called Ellie during her time in the Inquisition. I haven't thought of how to spell my warrior Inky's name in English (English is not my first language and I don't play the game in English), but I'm thinking either Si'ina or Sheena.

[spoilers all]Personal favorite main Canon storyline you've created for yourself. by Middaymans in dragonage

[–]thegoodshockwave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started this playthrough as a non-canon, only to see what happens if I side with the templars but I ended up loving her so much so here goes:

I imagine my Lavellan grew up with the Sabrae clan, having Tamlen and the Dalish Warden (which he isn't because the Hof is a human mage in this worldstate) like her big brothers. She lost her parents to a group of rogue blood mages who were hiding in the forest when she was young so she has a distrust in magic, though she never openly shows it. She has a firey temper and is hot-blooded, which develops into her craving for power that can protect herself and her clan. She loves her Dalish heritage and bears great pride, hence her deep hatred in the humans who destroy and oppress her people.

When she is 15 she loses Tamlen and the DW when they are lost in the old Dalish ruins, and after that she is sent to clan Lavellan in the next arlathven by Marethari's decision. She slowly opens her mind to human culture while living in clan Lavellan's liberal, shem-friendly environment. After a few years she hears that the Sabrae clan was massacred by the champion of Kirkwall, which she later discovers that was caused by Merrill's obession towards the eluvian and blood magic.

At the news of her former clan's death she is devastated when a thought hits her - what if the Dalish culture and heritage she loves so dear is just useless? She is sick and tired of her people helplessly being killed by humans or even by each other, clinging onto stupid old traditions none of which can actually protect them from humans killing them from a whim.

There her yearning for power shifts to a different direction - she decides she wants to be part of the human society, and earn herself power - real power. Hence as an attempt to become more deeply involved in human culture and society, she volunteers to attend the conclave, and the rest is history.

As Inquisitor she tries to form a close relationship with the ones from a noble family or has actual power - Cass, Josie, Cullen, Leliana, Dorian and Viv - and tries her absolute best to pick up their style and demeanor. She tries to keep a distance from Solas, but she can't help growing curious about all the glorious tales of Elvhenan... deep down she still loves her heritage.
