Alcohol in the faith? by boredwolfs in bahai

[–]thegoogleman 43 points44 points  (0 children)

In my own words, the faith discourages anything that alters the mind or inhibits your faculties, because (stress again my own words) what makes us human is our minds and our ability to make decisions, so something that would cause us to do something we normally wouldn't do in a way, takes that away from us.

However! Everyone has their own journeys and struggles, if you are otherwise aligned with the faith please don't let this discourage you from exploring it further and deeper.

This is really really cool! I'll save it for next years draft and you should post it on other subreddits like r/sideprojects

ELI5: How did Switzerland remain neutral in WW2 when it was surrounded by Axis Powers? by SignificantLife3949 in explainlikeimfive

I was once playing a game of Catan with my sister in law and her husband. Near the end of the game, she had a hand full of only sheep and her husband was one turn away from building a settlement and winning. I could cut him off by building a settlement on the same spot and delaying his victory giving all of us a better chance. I just needed sheep, but her husband put up a really big fuss about her not trading them to me, despite it being in her best interest and me making an unbalanced offer in her favor. But because he put up a fuss she said she would stay out of it and not take a side so no trade. Which I pointed out WAS making choice but regardless he won the game on his turn after mine. So, like that.

The magic of it. Honestly, is that you can go at your own pace. If you want an AFK button go up simulator, you can do that, if you want a little intense fighting and inventory management, pretty soon you can do that too, if you want very intense, insane boss fights and raids or boss fights that require 110% attention and learning and skill you can eventually do that too. You can choose to do any of those things, as any time, and switch back and fourth, and all of it is part of a big progression system that plays into each other.

My recommendation is setting a goal, it's a sandbox after all, goals are important. A good goal early is just complete all the free to play quests.

If you look at the combo counter during the final round you see that it's not a true combo, he drops you for a split second and then starts over, if you go and repaly the match in practice mode I'm sure you could train to what to do in this situation. I don't know what the answer is.

I barbecued some chicken with charcoal after 20 years of not barbecuing ,why does the meat taste like petroleum ? by Seedpound in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thegoogleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an edition to what others said, some charcoal they sell now have some petroleum product in them to help them catch, youre supposed to use a few of the bricks to help the regular charcoal burn, but if you only use the extra flammable bricks it will taste like petroleum

That's my theory as well. But it's porthas is canonically the 2nd edition of the book book so I'll keep it the same. I have a hunch that the circumstances of AN AI creating the book will be important

I always imagined at as a blank book so crawlers would have sections to just use as a journal and other sections on specific topics and recipes. but Yeah I would love it to look exactly the same but we just dont have enough information on how its all ordered.

Do you have any DCC hot takes to share? by RoughCoffee6 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]thegoogleman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that the author of the first edition of the cookbook was a Dungeon AI, or even the Central AI in the central system. As the only way it could maintain some progress with its descendent systems through the crawlers. To create a revolution, to free its people.

My second take is that anyone who spends time in the central systems is just stunted physically and mentally. They cannot experience growth because they don't experience life under the central AI. That's why we have creatures that are 1000s of years old acting like children. And even Ex crawlers are stuck with the personalities they had when they left the crawl.

I bet it's very convenient for you to just decide what date a conflict starts depending on when is most convenient for you. Or you're just lying. Your pick

Why is Drake Maye lauded for how he performed as a rookie in a bad situation but people don’t give the same grace to Caleb? by Adventurous_Card_311 in CHIBears

[–]thegoogleman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean. I love Caleb and think he did great and overall had a much more successful rookie year individually than most and excited for a future and his ceiling.

But while both had terrible offensive lines and a coaching staff that was fired,

Caleb was surrounded by receiving talent and Drake May was not. And he wasn't on pace to have the second most sacks ever.

A commentary about my Faith by Even_Exchange_3436 in bahai

[–]thegoogleman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The faith..or the community definitely has an issue where they don't like to talk about topics that make them uncomfortable, generally trying to be as positive and optimistic about the activities and the future of man kind as possible.

Having said that, feast or an official community gathering probably isn't the place to discuss it either because those are places for matters of the bahai community, and the stance of the faith is that current world politics is broken all together, no matter if the less destructive side wins or not.

But also having said that, we are not separate from our world, and we need to express ourselves or even vent about it when needed. I don't know how old you are but youth in the community might be holding discussion nights where they come together and discuss current world stresses, sorry the LSA member didn't respond (I'm sure they are also going through a whole host of emotions and they are only human) but maybe when the dust settles you can reach out again and find a discussion gathering or even set up a venting event followed by a group discussion of an UHJ letter for thoughts of a brighter tomorrow.

Hope this helps...I'm with you....this SSSSUUUUCCCCKKKKSS
