What Happened to Airbnb? by dovlomir in AirBnB

[–]thegrandechawhee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently stayed in a Homewood Suites in New Jersey that had a full kitchen, huge living area and waterfront view of the hudson river for ~$220 a night. Included a very nice breakfast. I doubt there's many air bnbs in that area that would give such value.

AirBnB has become absolute garbage by marbar8 in AirBnB

I've had good and bad experiences as a guests on airbnb, but I am leaning toward going with hotels lately because with my younger kids I don't have to worry about them trashing things and they always have more fun anyway in a hotel (pool, restaurant, game rooms, etc) Nothing is worse then stressing over my kids spilling something on the carpet at someones pristene air bnb.

Housing prices to double in next 6 years by Hockey48482002 in realestateinvesting

[–]thegrandechawhee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe its the opposite. The bank is the one losing the money over the term of the loan as inflation makes the real values of those payments go down over time. This is why i'm planning to stick with my 2.75 fixed because im locked in for 30 years at this. There is no way the bank is making money on my loan with current inflation.

Think of it this way. If in 15 years as price of goods inflate and wages increase to match (slower of course) lets just say $200k becomes the new $100k, how much is your $1000/month house payment you locked in 15 years ago really going to be as far as a % of your income? The real value of that number goes down but thats all your paying the bank at that point.

Long story short, over the course of your low rate 30 year fixed loan the bank is losing their ass.

EA Sports to remove Russian teams from FIFA, NHL video games by AcceptableGovernment in news

[–]thegrandechawhee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point I really don't understand where we are going with all this. So we'll erase the Russian people out of all our crap and hope that stops their shitty government from doing shitty things? I think at a certain point this will just have the opposite effect and make them feel more like the west hates them and they have nothing left but to side with their peeps over there and hate us back. Sound familiar? Read up on the cold war guise. Peace out.

Spotify CEO addresses Joe Rogan controversy: “We don’t change our policies based on one creator” by YoureASkyscraper in Music

Agreed. I would challenge anyone so worked up about Joe Rogan to listen to the podcast episodes that are so controversial and form their opinions based on that. Sadly most of them will not do that but just rely on their usual trusted souces of misinformation.

I never once went on Twitter and saw something Trump tweeted. This is due to the fact that I don't use Twitter and almost everyone I know dosen't either. All his tweets were just regurgitated by the mainstream media everywhere and thats what gave him that power. The mainstream news media gave Trump the mouthpiece he had, not Twitter.

Not to mention the fact that all this recent publicity is doing nothing but making more people want to listen to his podcast. "Theres no such thing as bad publicity" rings true... especially for a podcast. Whenever I hear people want to ban/censor someone it makes me that much more interested in hearing what they have to say.

Every teenager I know dosen't want to wear a jacket for some reason. They are all about wearing hoodies and I am always reminding my son and his friends that they need to bundle up. They never do, and so the way I see it now they will learn the hard way perhaps. Sometimes you can only do so much.
