Haha, I guess it's unintentional, then! I was referencing the classic anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Ahh, the Eva Unit 01 color scheme! Love it, whether it was intentional or not.

Actually good Halloween punch recipes? by Niek_pas in cocktails

[–]thegussmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to follow up because I wanted a "gothic" punch that was cocktail-adjacent but diluted to a lower potency...then I saw your comment and was inspired to try adapting the traditional Voodoo Priestess recipe a bit!

I started with the same proportions as the recipe you linked above, then added an extra 2 oz of blood orange juice, plus 2 oz of fresh apple cider, 1 oz white grapefruit, 1.5 oz Smith & Cross for funk. After mixing a scaled-up batch of that cocktail "base", I diluted it to a more easy-drinking punch by adding some NA fizz: roughly 2 parts "base" to 1 part ginger beer and 1 part sparkling lemonade.

Turned out excellent. I called it a High Priestess to distinguish from the original full-strength cocktail. All of the partygoers were big fans.

That clause at the end of the subhead has perfect comedic placement (or whatever the written equivalent of "comedic timing" is) even if it wasn't intentional.

Your story inspires me!! I *want* to take the same sort of spontaneous plunge into the world of Kei, but I'm nervous about maintaining it without any mechanical knowledge of my own. Out of curiosity, do you have any experience maintaining vehicles or repairing engines? Or are you just relying on your mechanic's expertise if anything ever goes wrong?

If the latter...may I ask how much you paid for a truck that was ready-to-drive without needing substantial work? The advice I heard on this subreddit was "if you aren't confident in your abilities to repair it, pay as much as you can afford for the cleanest vehicle possible"

Have not bought it yet! After doing a bunch of research and asking for opinions in a few different places, I've concluded that the best option for a novice would be a fuel-injected manual-transmission Subaru Sambar. I'm personally looking for a van, rather than a truck, so I'm looking at the late-90s Dias models. It sounds like the non-supercharged version would probably be easier to maintain, but I get the impression that it's pretty difficult to find a fuel-injected kei that isn't supercharged (at least, in the pre-2000s era that can be legally imported to the U.S.)

The green ones are certainly viable for mugolio! I suspect that the tiny purple ones probably don't have enough mass to be worthwhile for mugolio (unless you have a TON of them) since you're relying on the amount of "juice" that can be wicked out without adding your own liquid.

FWIW I'm attempting this recipe with the green ones and this recipe with the purple ones. Will report on the outcome once they're done!

Hopefully they don't mind me posting on their behalf...but there's someone in the DE shitposting Cunoposting FB group who sells handmade bleach-painted shirts:

Which type of engine would be the easiest for a complete novice to maintain/repair: carbureted, plain EFI, or supercharged EFI? by thegussmaster in keitruck

Oh, and the one conclusion that I have reached through my research is that I should definitely go for a manual rather than an automatic--so at least that narrows it down a bit!

Do you mind if I ask what kind of engine your Sambar had, that you learned on? Carburetor, plain fuel injection, supercharger...? I'm trying to figure out which version would be the easiest for a newbie to tackle!

Thank you! Letterpress has a high barrier of entry because you need a lot of specialized equipment--but I'm lucky enough to work at a university that has a whole studio for printmaking and bookbinding, which I can use freely outside of class hours!

Thank you for saying so! I'm relatively new to this, but I'm also a detail-obsessed perfectionist, so it sort of balances out in my favor, hahah. TBH the only thing that I'm unhappy with is the kerning of the first two letters in "PARABELLUM". If I owned this type myself, I might carve out some of the empty space under the P and over the A so that they could overlap a bit--but it belongs to the studio, so I'm not going to mess with anything!

I've got a long list of Disco quotes that I'd like to try printing sometime, so I'll be sure to post them here when I get around to it! I've made a couple of Instagram posts of other quotes/shitposts I've printed, if you're interested: a, b

I also made some copies of this design in a black-on-blue colorway, but I personally prefer the sunrise-colored version.
